Updated April 9, 2026,"Most male U.S. citizens ages 18-25 are required to register with SSS, though there has not been an active military draft since 1973, according to the agency's website.
"Now, the agency is moving to an automatic registration process, rather than requiring eligible men to sign up manually.
"The amendment to the Military Selective Service Act implementing automatic registration is set to take effect one year after the #NDAA was enacted into law, according to the bill text.
"On March 30, #SSS formally submitted automatic registration as proposed rule to OIRA, which will now review and finalize the regulatory action.
According to the SSS website, the change 'transfers responsibility for registration from individual men to SSS through integration with federal data sources.' "Archived version:

Elon Musk and DOGE have announced that having 50 states is too ineffeicient, and we have been reduced down to 13 numbered "Districts". Additionally, each District will now focus on a primary industry to reduce duplication of effort. The Capitol will be relocated to the Rocky Mountains. #Panem

President Elon Musk has decided that having 50 very different states is inefficient, so he has sold off Alaska and Hawaii to Russia and China, and divided the North American continent into 13 Districts. For efficiency, each of these 13 Districts will focus primarily on one primary industry. This new country will be renamed "Panem".

Has anyone noticed there aren't any visibly out gay or trans characters in The Hunger Games universe or in Panem? Did I miss them? I know it is a fictional dystopian future, but LGBTQs wouldn't just disappear.
