FrogFind's "Catch of the Day": Get your styluses ready! (EudoraWeb on Palm OS) 🌴🖊️
Hey Retro Fans!It's time for our Catch of the Day! Tonight, we have a guest in our logs that takes us right back to the era when phones were just for calling, and smart organizers were known as "PDAs" (Personal Digital Assistants).
Just before 6:30 PM, this exotic creature showed up in the frog pond:

Why this is so awesome:
Long before the iPhone or modern Android devices, Palm OS was the undisputed king of mobile productivity. You operated these devices with a small plastic stylus on resistive touchscreens (often still monochrome!).The name Eudora probably rings a bell for many retro geeks anyway: it was the standard email client of the 90s. But what many have forgotten is that they also released a specially adapted, tiny web browser for Palm PDAs called EudoraWeb.
The fact that someone dusted off their old Palm device today, hooked it up to the net via a serial cable, infrared, or an early Wi-Fi card, and tapped out a FrogFind search with their stylus is just pure magic. This is exactly the kind of tiny display and low-power CPU that FrogFind was built for!

I'm also collecting more versions because some originally supported e.g. Palm OS 3.x, but versions crept up over time.

When I had a Palm III I used extensively LispMe, a Scheme development environment for Palm OS. It was quite capable, supported GUI primitives, and I had lots of fun writing several programs including a bytecode disassembler.

Aside from phones, I'm also interested in #PDA devices like #PalmOS and #PocketPC. I don't come across them very often where I live, but recently I managed to find these - Palm m500, m505, m515, Tungsten E, and this HP iPAQ. The m515 and iPAQ are fully working with good batteries, while the m500 and m505 batteries are dead. I don't have a charger for the Tungsten.
