  1. New Dr. on the block! 👩‍🎓 Huge congrats to Dr. Stella Kyrikou on successfully defending her PhD on paleoenvironmental research in the Megalopolis Basin! ✨️👏🏻 Well done! 🎉

  2. I really want a good (and easy-to-implement) paleo-salinity proxy, but it's been rather elusive through the years. You'd think elemental ratios would hold the key, but it still looks like you'd be getting only ballpark from them.

  3. If you are interested in the chemical tracers of wildfires, and how those might vary with burn severity, check out our new #preprint authorea.com/doi/full/10.22541

We leached wildfire ashes and soils from karst areas, so we can better understand the speleothem palaeofire proxy signal. Another team effort, with co-authors from #UNSW (👋 @Andbaker) #ANSTO, #UWA, and #GNSScience

  4. Happily, AQUA plans to run our mentoring program again in 2024. If you are a Quaternary scientist working in Australasia and interested in being either a mentor or mentee, please check out all the details here:
