So, in addition to demonizing #Matriarchal societies, #Homer took a stab at the survivors of the #BronzeAgeCollapse on #Crete by turning them into the #Cyclops! Not a surprise! I noticed that #Odysseus eyed the "Cyclops Island" as prime #RealEstate (like a typical #Colonist!). Of course the so-called "civilized" #AncientGreeks had to demonize peoples who had lived under female rulers or NO RULERS!

Excerpt: "Drawing on his experience sailing a replica of an Ancient Greek galley, Severin estimated that Odysseus would have reached the coast of Libya, specifically near the site that later became the Greek colony of Cyrene. This was the Land of the Lotus Eaters. From there, Odysseus resumed his journey back to Ithaca, logically sailing north toward Southern Greece. Along this route, he would likely have arrived at the southwestern corner of #Crete, where the peninsula of #Paleochora was once separated from the main island, forming a small offshore island.
"This scenario closely matches the Odyssey’s description of Odysseus arriving at a small island situated just beside the island where the Cyclopes lived.
How the Cyclopes match the Minoans of Crete
"Severin’s argument that Crete was the island of the Cyclopes is highly compelling. But how do the Minoans fit into this theory? Regarding the Minoan city of Kommos in southern Crete, Severin noted its abandonment in the Late Bronze Age and asked:
" 'What had happened to the survivors of Kommos and the other Minoan settlements along this coast? Could they have fallen back to the barest subsistence level, living in caves and practicing the sort of simple pastoral farming that Ulysses found among the Cyclopes?'
"In essence, Severin suggested that the Cyclopes of the Odyssey may have been Minoans who, after the collapse of their magnificent #BronzeAge civilization, returned to a #simpler, more primitive way of life. While Severin did not explore this idea in depth, a closer examination reveals there is substantial evidence for this."

🛟 Insges. 121 Menschen aus 2 Booten wurden an den Ostertagen vor #Gavdos gerettet: Nach der Rettung von 47 Menschen am Sonntagabend 6,2sm südl. der Insel, wurden am Montag 1 Holzboot mit 74 Pers. 15sm südöstl. von Gavdos gefunden. Sie wurden nach #Paleochora bzw. #AgiaGalini auf #Kreta gebracht.

Griechische Medien berichten von der Rettung von 45 Personen 42sm südlich von #Gavdos durch einen Frachter🚢🇲🇭 , der unter der Flagge der Marshallinseln fuhr, gerettet und nach #PaleoChora gebracht.

🇬🇷 Die letzten 150 der fast 500 letzte Woche mit einem havariertem Trawler in #Paleochora gelandeten #RefugeesGR wurden heute mit Bussen nach Souda zur Fähre nach Piräus gebracht u. sollen auf Aufnahmezentren in Attica verteilt werden.

🇬🇷 Die 476 #RefugeesGR in #Paleochora auf #Kreta, unter ihnen viele unbegleitete Minderjährige, vmussten auch den 3. Tag unter katastrophalen Bedingungen auf der offenen Fähre #SAMARIA1⛴️ verbringen.
Heute soll endlich mit Transfers nach #Athens begonnen werden. -
🇬🇷 Es ist eine Schande: Die #RefugeesGR in #Paleochora verbrachten eine 2. Nacht auf der offenen(!) ⛴️SAMARIA 1, da es - trotz außerhalb der Saison tausenden freien Hotelbetten - angeblich nicht möglich ist, sie an Land unterzubringen.
Am späten Nachmittag trafen Zelte vom UNHCR ein, die heute im Hafen aufgestellt werden.
Viele der 490 #RefugeesGR weigern sich auch, den Trawler zu verlassen u. wollen, dass das Ruder repariert wird, um die Reise nach #Italien fortzusetzen.

Angesichts der üblichen #Pushback Politik Griechenlands sind wir froh, dass Menschen #Kreta erreicht haben.

🇬🇷 Laut lokalen Medien wurden die 70 nahe #Kreta geretteten #RefugeesGR von #Paleochora in das Dorf #Kountoura gebracht. Unter ihnen sind mindestens 4 Verletzte. Ein Mann verlor sein Leben.

🇬🇷 70 Menschen, die gestern bei #Kreta #Alarmphone um Hilfe gerufen hatten, wurden von dem Frachter HARRISON🚢 🇲🇭 gerettet, nachdem ihr Boot gesunken war, bervor griech. Behörden eingriffen. 1 Person wird vermisste. Die Überlebenden wurden nach #Paleochora gebracht.

🇬🇷 Nach Mitternacht wurden die Menschen doch noch in #Paleochora an Land gerbacht. Im Morgengrauen war dann Ausschiffung und Transport nach #Chania abgeschlossen. Die #RefugeesGR wurden dort im Kinderlager Kalatha untergebracht.
