Yesterday, we had another super neat #Sandstone #Climbing experience in #Palatinate. The reaaaally long and big Burghalder Fels has some great #crack climbing and an almost-chimney that´s fun. Starting in the late evening, it was cool enough, and the late-summer sun brought out beautiful colors. It was 22:00 until we were back at our cars 😂 .
We tried the typically-alpine twin ropes to second simultaneously, and that worked super well!

The Pferchfeldmassiv in #palatinate has some really sweet #sandstone #climbing - perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon, with very diverse routes even in lower grades.
This was the first time I've climbed an outdoor route twice, and it makes such a difference! Two others struggled quite a bit, and despite me being weaker I was able to just run through the cruxes both times 🥳. Since I'm always unsure about my climbing strength and level, that felt reassuring ☺️.

In total this was a superb evening - a nice "Wanderer" 4 to warm up, a simple crack in top rope to train placing gear without risk, and a really hard 6+ dihedral crack just after sunset to finish the day. Abseil with headlamps 🪔🧗♂️🤣.
I'm really looking forward to slowly get into leading easy trad routes here - and I feel so accomplished already seconding so hard stuff 😯
Why is this so fun? Why is that rock so beautiful?

Today, I was with my trad-leader friend at the Frohndellpfeiler in Palatinate. The crack was a "6", and it was amazing to see my friend lead this so effortlessly and securely. The route was a mix between actual hand- and fist-jamming crack-climbing and even a short shoulder crack portion, finished up by some slopey hell. I was able to top it! With only ~4 falls into the rope (3 times at the place of the video). I´m so DAMN proud!

Yesterday I climbed on top of the "Vorderer Langenberg" in the #Pfälzerwald (#Palatinate Forest) here in #Germany for a combined #SOTA #POTA #WWFF activation. I didn't expect much traffic around noon, but then ended up having a pile-up so high, I had to apply priorisation techniques to get everybody through 😵💫
I only stopped after 88 QSOs in 90 minutes because I was planning to activate more parks in France later that day.

🌄 Happy Thursday everyone! Here is a blue hour photo of vineyard hills, about 20 minutes away from where I live. Germany has many beautiful areas, and the Palatinate region is no exception. It was getting pretty dark (I’ve lightened the photo up a touch), and I didn’t see the fox until I was processing the shoot.
