Another short gear post.
I am sort of obsessed with these cymbals from Paiste. Giant Beats have the sound I hear when I imagine a cymbal. Maybe I was conditioned as a child by my mother playing Led Zeppelin II and III in the car so often. Who knows.
They work for almost anything, although the hi-hats are sometimes too “polite” for hard rock.

Do any of you #musicians out there have stories about switching from one brand of gear to another and then regretting that decision? E.g., I recently bought some #Paiste cymbals only to realize that I prefer the #Zildjian cymbals I've played pretty much my whole life. Thank heavens I hadn't sold my Zildjians! 🥁 #musicproduction

Vintage (1985) Tama Superstar kit in super maple lacquer, sizes 10", 12", 14", 16" & 22".
Silverstar suspension tom mounts, StarClassic double tom holder, plastic washers under tension rods.
Bass drum with Evans clear GMAD and frosted EQ3 reso.
All toms Evans coated G2 batter, reso's clear G1's on 10" and 12", Genera Resonant clear on 14" and 16".
Gretch Purewood Hickory 14" Snare with Evans coated G2 batter.

Happy #CymbalSaturday folks! Here is my 16” #paiste Masters Dark Crash. This has a nice cut and darkness to it and I like to follow up hits from bigger cymbals with it as an accent especially. Decent bell but divine wash when really cooking.

Hooray it’s time for #CymbalSaturday ! Today I’m showing my ride cymbal. It’s a #paiste 22” Signature Reflector Bell Ride. The bell on it, as the name would imply, is fantastic on it and cuts through perfectly. I only wish it was crashable, but nothing can ever be perfect 😉

Belated #CymbalSaturday
These are my 14 inch #paiste crunch hats. These used to be part of the Dimension line and then got pulled into the 2002 line shortly before being discontinued. I am obsessed with these hats, one of my favorite drummers of all time uses them and turned me onto them.
I also do something a bit non-standard by using the bottom hat on top. It has such a nice chick sound and the slosh sounds just right. The bell is incredible too, almost like a second ride on the left.

What’s a cymbal on your kit you really like and why? My favorite cymbal is my Paiste 18in Signature Full Crash. It has a nice loud, cutting sound when you need it but generally feels super musical and able to blend with any style at any volume level.

I have two sets up now, my main hats and favorite sounding ones are the Paiste Crunch hats. If you notice my particular non-standard config I’ll be impressed! My other set are Zildjian A New Beats configured as auxiliary hats in a fixed position on the other side of my kit.
