It's been a bit of a rollercoaster this week. A moment of joy today when I saw a butterfly in the garden today that I've not seen for years. This is a Painted Lady. The lavender has been exceptionally stunning this year too, there's so many different wonderful insects visiting it.

Not the best photo since it didn't like me getting that close.

A #PaintedLady came to visit yesterday (Vanessa cardui, #Distelfalter) - shot from a looong distance with maximum optical and some digital zoom. Hadn't known this #butterfly species but https://www.hr4.de/programm/themen/portraets-von-12-heimischen-schmetterlingsarten-v2,zwoelf-einheimische-schmetterlingsarten-100.html readily identified it.
