  1. @HailsandAles Hm. #Soen with Lykaia, #PainOfSalvation with In The Passing Light Of Day issued great proggy records. #TheBlackDahliaMurder, #Mastodon, #Wintersun and #BellWitch had very enjoyable albums … but I would go with #UnleashTheArchers and Apex. Awesome piece of music on a level they’ve never reached again.

  2. I'm pretty sure both Lilac by #Katatonia and Restless Boy by #PainOfSalvation are using a sample of a floppy disk drive and I find that interesting. It is a pleasant sound. Let me know if I'm mistaken...

#rocknroll #albumderwoche #painofsalvation

  4. @neurothing is asking for collaborations in this week's #ThursdayFiveList.
For about ten seconds I thought I wouldn't participate for lack of ideas, but then a few did actually pop into my head. So here's my #TheCollab ...

First up, #Kingcrow is supporting #PainOfSalvation for a few shows in Italy these days. I'm sad they're not touring the entire EU. Or, at least, Hamburg, Germany. 🤷‍♂️

But anyway, one reason why that choice for support is so fitting is:

  6. 11 years ago I had just moved to Germany, and I came back to Italy to visit my family and attend a #PainOfSalvation concert. I remember some of the songs as the soundtrack of the feelings of change, transition, fear while embracing something new.

Now I'm in Italy again for another concert of the same band, in a completely different frame of mind, looking back at the last 11 years. I made many right choices, but also...I was lucky. I am lucky.

  7. Das einzige Album, das ich kenne, das im Booklet ein Quellenverzeichnis mitliefert: „Be“ von Pain of Salvation. Hier in einer Live-Fassung, enjoy: youtu.be/mBaqZDrJmY4 #rocknroll #progmetal #painofsalvation

  8. Sometimes I hate my fucking species
Yet most days I'll do anything to please it

My generation was fooled to pursue our dreams
But it is not what it seems
You never need what you want
And you rarely want what you need

Oh, my generation was told that we could be anything
But that's a hope that deceives
Those who fail will feel flawed
But still fuller than those who succeed

  9. For you drummers out there, there is also this amazing video with Léo Margarit playing Accelerator by #PainOfSalvation. I actually think his playing here it better than on the studio recording.

  10. Some music reminds me of my work as a school #psychologist. One such song is Accelerator by #PainOfSalvation. The song involves a shift from "I'm the problem" to "maybe I'm the solution" (and a brilliant shift from a stuttering 7/4 to a liberating 4/4), just like the radical shift from "they do this on purpose" to "kids do well if they can" is the solution to "behaviourally challenging" kids at school.

  11. Meine letzte #Bandcamp Entdeckung ist #Dyssidia aus Down Under. Beim ersten Hören etwas sperrig, aber saugeil. Nicht von den Black/Death Vocals im ersten Track abschrecken lassen und definitiv öfter als einmal durchhören. Für Fans von #Opeth und #PainOfSalvation.
