PS—if your employees are entitled to paid time off, your time-tracking system has a "reason" field for time off requests, and you actually evaluate those reasons, YOU ARE AN ASSHOLE.

Paid time off is part of their compensation. They are entitled to it. You opinion of their reason has fuck all to do with whether or not they should get that particular day off.

@etnom @tojosan Many employers no longer categorize paid leave by specific purpose, instead give employees one large amount of #PaidTimeOff they can use for vacation, illness, bereavement, or whatever. While this gives non-sick employees a larger amount of “vacation” time (which some Ers won’t like) it eliminates the hassle of tracking different types of paid leave and having people pretend to be sick to take a day off because they are out of “vacation” days. Win-win
