On June 21st, 2022, a gold miner, working the Klondike gold fields, discovered something far more precious. A near-perfectly mummified, 30,000 year-old baby woolly mammoth was unearthed from Canadian permafrost, the only complete mammoth discovered in North America. I remember listening to a CBC Radio interview with Grant Zazula describing how lucky they were to preserve the mammoth before bad weather hit the site.

Ooh that's pretty cool, 476,000 years ago is about 466,000 years before humans started doing agriculture, and 276,000 years before anatomically modern humans.
So this is evidence of a wooden structure being put together with tools. Humans have been doing that for 1,800,000 years so I guess it's not that surprising but still cool.
