Does using #nix and its #homemanager #packagemanager in #ubuntu with e.g. #gnome make the #packages installed available as icons on the #desktop when the user, for whom the packages & home manager has been set up, logs into the machine? Or is it only available on the command line of that user? (I mean the process shown in this video which is command line only #cli )

Apparently its hard to find documentation on how to silently install Nvidia display drivers without Geforce experience from a batch file (and possibly doing it from BatchWinInstaller (https://github.com/devtee/batch-win-installer)

https://github.com/lord-carlos/nvidia-update/ offers some clues as to how to do it but involves removes files from the installer which isn't something I'm keen on doing.

Мы, как и наши коллеги из других отечественных компаний, задумались о поиске альтернатив используемым нами решениям. Наши бекендеры решили настроить резервную инфраструктуру на базе ресурсов «Яндекса». Мы, фронтендеры, задумались над альтернативой npm registry — источнику библиотек, фреймворков и других полезных в работе штук. От нашей изначальной идеи — создания локального registry — мы пришли к yarn 2+. О том, как так получилось, и с чем мы столкнулись на этом тернистом пути, я сегодня и расскажу.

#Gentoo #Linux has become my daily driver over the last few months. The biggest advantage of Gentoo isn't the bragging rights (that still belongs to the #Arch users 😆 ). It's the fact that it's damn easy to package anything for the #Portage #package_management system. EClasses handle a lot of corner cases for you. And development tooling is top notch (I will be release one of my own soon).

For those who are familiar with #packaging on other #distros, do you know of anything more convenient?

First time using CPM. It seems to provide a way smoother experience compared to Conan or even vcpkg (at least for personal projects)
