I understand it might be still spartan (at least the desktop version). There are many shines that other IMs have got.
BUT
1) Whatsapp is owned by Zuckerberg. Even though his companies cannot know what you write, it know when and who you are writing too. It knows basically all your relations thanks to cross checks with Facebook, Threads and Instagram itself. Plus it needs your phone number and it's centralised
2) Telegram doesn't crypt anything unless you ask it to, and group chat are basically cleartext. Still phone number needed + centralised.
3) Signal is great for privacy but cannot say the same for anonimity due to the need of phone number. Privacy is not golden sinceas soon as you install it, it yelds others you're on that platform. And it's centralised. Ah oh, it's not fully open source;
4) Matrix /Element is a good choice: federated and crypted, but servers do know your IP; and it leaks metadatas;
5) Threema is more for business, leaks some metadatas and it's even paid;
6) Session is what I said in the title. It's not that good looking, doesn't have stickers, cannot do many fancy things. But for strangers, imho, it's the best. You don't have to send anything around and there's no way to understand who you talked with, nor when. Just don't make telephone calls (those are revealing your IP to parties).

From the docs:
The non for profit Oxen Privacy Tech Foundation receives a governance reward of 9240 $OXEN every 7 days. This reward is used to pay for development, marketing, and community projects, more information about how the Oxen treasury and governance reward is managed can be found on the OPTF website.

In other words, if I wanted to use #SessionIM, but for whatever reason had a problem with OPTF's politics or actions or whatever, it would be impossible for me to use Session (or, say, a compatible independent client) in a way that would preclude OPTF from getting this "governance reward"?
Am I reading this right?

Quickly tested #NYM #NYMtech #NYMproject privacy platform / cryptocurrency and it seems to be pretty broken still. And probably on similar path compared to #LokiNet / #OXEN. Ie. not used for anything much. -

The underlying technology has been rebranded/ split up into the "#Oxen network" with either #Session or #LokiNet on top.
But they're still using a weird ancap blockchain tokenomics scheme for Sybil mitigation, see "Products built on Oxen":

My concerns regarding Session are raising.
Recently I restored an account and messages which were supposed to be deleted/disappear appeared on the new device.
They still keep their sites behind #Cloudflare.
They still don't have packages on main repositories.
They're banning people who have concerns about sessions' security.
