📚 #RitesOfReturningHome fand ich vom Cover so schön und der kulturelle Aspekt der Handlung hat mich interessiert.
Dass es #OwnVoice ist, hat mich extra gefreut. 😊

Wie das Gefühl von Entwurzelung bei Zhi-xun dargestellt wird, hat mich sehr berührt. Auch wie sich das Fortgehen von ihm auf seine Freundschaft mit Yi-xin ausgewirkt hat.

Ich bin gespannt, wie die Familiensituation von Zhi-xun sowie das Fest im zweiten Band weitererzählt werden.

Das Zeitalter der Fünf ist zu Ende und ich muss sagen, der letzte Band war der beste. Intrigen, Verrat, Geheimnisse, ein spannendes Finale. Trudi Canavan schreibt einfach wunderbar.
Jetzt geht es weiter nach Berlin. Spiegelstadt verspricht urban fantasy und den Glamour der wilden 20er.

That’s not to say it’s not easy to make mistakes even so—even if we’re just talking geography, I’m sure we’ve all read books set in places we live written by people who don’t live there who got something wrong that’s super-obvious to a local—but my point here is more that elevating #OwnVoice is always going to be important; but it also can’t be used as a straightjacket (pun intended, especially when we’re talking queer voices given the complexity of being out/closeted/questioning).

Two answers. One: if I had the editor skills, I'd love to create an #Ownvoice anthology with stories from the other characters in my fictionalized Village (Marion, Phoebe, Fiona & Jenn, etc.), asking writers whose identities match those supporting characters to take them out for a spin.

Two: from Triad, Matthew and Jace (they had a short story, mind), and the rest of the Craft Night kids.

Heute schreibe ich zu kultureller Diversität in meinem Roman #WennEsNichtPassiert. Für mich ist es ein besonders interessanter Punkt, weil er verglichen mit den anderen kaum #OwnVoice ist: Ich schreibe Repräsentation, die mich nicht selbst betrifft. In diesem Fall geht es um eine Parallele zum Judentum. Mit den Noldafin und Nöldischsein füge ich dem Worldbuilding eine Referenz auf Judentum und Jüdischsein hinzu. Linoschka ist nöldich und die nöldische Band Schabernakel ist im Roman zentral.
