  1. I hate to say it, but I'm about to give up on #RichardPowers "Gold bug variations". I absolutely loved #Overstory and #Bewildered, and mostly adored #Playground.

But this one is dense. Lots of complex sentences and non-stop clever metaphors. I find myself re-reading pages several times to understand them. The story and characters feel secondary to the allusions and florid description.

10% in, and that may be my limit :/

  6. I finished #Butter by Asako Yuzuki which I enjoyed very much. I’ve just started #Playground by Richard Powers. I’ve really been excited about this one. I made sure I’ve read nothing about it but I’m happy to go wherever he takes me. I loved both #Overstory and #Bewilderment so much. #Overstory has really stayed with me. It’s one of the few books I’d read again.

  7. #RicochetMedia has spoken to over half a dozen current and former OMG employees for this story (who have requested anonymity for fear of retaliation), a spokesperson for the newly formed employee union and Mohamed himself. We’ve listened to a leaked audio recording of a Dec. 5 all-hands meeting and confronted #Overstory management about a surprising number of #discrepancies in their public statements.
