At the #GeniusBar, the tech said (paraphrased): “If you came yesterday, your #warranty would cover it. Today it’s $700. Better to buy a new one.”
Hard to square with all those stories of happy #Apple #customers who were #overjoyed when the company went the extra mile to keep them #SatisfiedCustomer

‘Overjoyed’ is released to the Microsoft Store after its start as an open source adapter for game controllers available only on one of the developer’s site. It’s only got a 100 users at launch but it seems like something the Mastodon gaming community would want to take a look at.
CBC has a report on the codevelopers De Virgillo and Monaghan’s journey.
“Overjoyed, which is now part of the non-profit Our Odyssey, has presets for gaming with a mouse and keyboard, playing Xbox or PlayStation titles, and for Nintendo Switch. For Switch, they partnered with controller maker 8BitDo so one of that company's devices could act as a wireless relay from the software to the Nintendo console.
The virtual joystick can also be controlled using eye-tracking if a user has the tools for that. . .
. . . Monaghan adds that the pair is also open to any developers building Overjoyed directly into their games.“

Ah crivens.
Totaly broke down yesterday. As much as I like to think I'm a highly functioning autistic person (non diagnosed), I had every nut and bolt shaken yesterday. Zoning out, being antisocial at a conference is not the best way to meet people, let me tell you. I was not ready. Underestimated how bad I really am underneath and how fragile the cover of confident cool I try to keep. Still, we learn. And the turtle moves.
