It's incredible that Gretzky has 2857 points (points is goals+assists) including 1963 assists.
That 1963 assists is more than any other player has of points (goals+assists)!!
Those records may very well be unbreakable. But they said that about just the goals until Ovechkin came along so... who knows.

Wow, I didn't realize this little bit of Ovechkin/Gretzky trivia before just now.
"Ovechkin got No. 895 in his 1,487th game — the same number Gretzky finished with.”
Now that's an impressive coincidence!
A lot of good detail in this report.
Ovi also has more 40 goal seasons than Gretzky. 14 vs 12, the most in league history. He is just an incredible, gifted, consistent workhorse and also seems to be a good person. (well, except the #RussiaUkraineWar / Putin stuff :( )

This moment was absolute pure class
#NextManUp #NHLWhile #Fleury didn’t get the start, what we saw at the end of the final buzzer was pure class. As the Capitals were already half way down the tunnel, Alexander #Ovechkin chased them down and called them back out to line up to give the Flower a proper send off. All of the Capitals including staff came out to shake hands with Fleury in what was truly a class act.

I think it’s really hard to fully understand and appreciate the level of greatness we are witnessing with #Ovechkin. By every measurable metric what he is doing should not be possible. How cool that we get to bear witness to his logic-defying excellence.
