  1. Sometimes when I feel bad about my jungle shack, I remind myself of this one day, maybe in 2011 or 2012. I was working at a nonprofit under an incompetent boss. I was depressed, living in an apt, commuting to SF every day, drinking too much, etc.

So on this one day, I made an excuse and left work early to go wander the streets of SF. I got out of the office and walked down the block toward a set of stairs to coit tower. I was looking at the cliff face covered in plants and the mystical staircase going up, breathing in the planty, green fog, feeling the cool breeze on my face, and thought "I just want to be outside". It was like...I *needed* to be outside.

And now I get to spend almost all my time outside, in the forest, breathing that nice, planty air. I have to remind myself that I've accomplished something that seemed like an impossibility back at that time when I felt totally trapped in office work and apartment living. I did it: I now spend most of my time outside 🌱🌞🌌

It seems mundane now, but it's a big deal, and I remind myself that I love being outside almost all the time and i'm also actively working toward improving my living standards.

  6. Question for wildlife people and cat-knowers. My suburban British outdoor cat has recently moved to my mother’s place in Corfu. She is concerned that a marten (beech marten) spotted in the area might be a danger to my furry snugly coward.

It seems unlikely to me that these two predators would get involved with each other in any way, regardless of the depredations of martens on the local chicken population. Thoughts?

  11. Me and Marlo!! Marlo is 15 years old (a baby) and in his old age he decided he is now an outdoor cat and must go on a 3 mile (minimum) walk every single day and get a lot of attention during it. He was very soft and very chill!

I scratched his butt a bunch and when I put him down he immediately started eating grass. It was great!

  19. Finally got a shot of the stray tuxedo cat that wanders around. We have a couple that come by for food but this one seems less feral and more okay with us. Even got to pet him already.
