Just over a decade and a half ago, I created a character called Evil Death Robot. It 's back story is that it was built to be an assassin AI robot, but rolled off the assembly line with a conscience. It had empathy that it had to try and hide from it's evil masters. But, It was still considered defected, and ended up being locked in a store room.

When I created this character, it was before I knew that I am autistic, but in retrospect, I can see that is what I'm basing it on. It's that notion of being outcast for having feelings and not actually being inside what everyone on the outside expects you to be. A notion that also goes far beyond just autism, when being outcast for who you are.

This artwork was created in 2008, when I was in an experimental phase of using photography in the artwork to create the base texture of elements. I did stop doing it like that though.

One of the first full-3D video games ever, Outcast did get a sequel 25 years later on, released in March 2024. It was developed by Appeal Studios in #Belgium , which was relaunched in 2015, by the original founders of the studio Appeal, that declared bankruptcy in 2002.

Doing a 100% play-through of the game, marking chapters, so it can be used as walkthrough reference, if stuck.

Your fourteenth recommendation for this month is Outcast, a British horror movie from 2010 directed by Colm McCarthy. It features an excellent cast and does a great job of making the most of the low budget, as well as doing something different with familiar sub-genre tropes.
