Kolejne odejście z Apple. Szef sprzętu smart home przechodzi do Oura
Apple traci jednego z kluczowych menedżerów odpowiedzialnych za rozwój urządzeń domowych.
Jak donosi Bloomberg, Brian Lynch – dyrektor odpowiadający za hardware w segmencie smart home – opuszcza firmę i dołącza do producenta inteligentnych pierścieni Oura.
Lynch pracował w Apple od lat i od 2022 roku nadzorował rozwój sprzętu w ramach inicjatyw związanych z domem. Wcześniej był zaangażowany m.in. w projekt samochodu Apple oraz rozwój iPodów. W nowej roli obejmie stanowisko wiceprezesa ds. inżynierii sprzętu w Oura.
Kolejny problem dla smart home Apple
Odejście Lyncha to nie jest odosobniony przypadek. To już druga głośna zmiana kadrowa w tym zespole w ostatnich latach – wcześniej firmę opuścił DJ Novotney, odpowiadający za zarządzanie programami w dziale urządzeń domowych.
Zmiany kadrowe zbiegają się w czasie z problemami projektowymi. Apple od dłuższego czasu pracuje nad własnym urządzeniem smart home z ekranem, które ma być centralnym punktem sterowania domem. Premiera tego produktu była już kilkukrotnie przesuwana – według doniesień powodem są m.in. opóźnienia w rozwoju Siri.
Siri wciąż kluczowa
Nowe urządzenia Apple dla domu mają w dużej mierze opierać się na możliwościach asystenta głosowego. To właśnie Siri ma odpowiadać za personalizację i integrację danych w ekosystemie. Problem w tym, że rozwój tej technologii nie nadąża za ambicjami sprzętowymi.
Mimo tych trudności Apple nie rezygnuje z segmentu smart home. W planach mają znajdować się kolejne urządzenia, w tym m.in. wideodomofon z obsługą Face ID oraz integracją z inteligentnymi zamkami.
Odejście Lyncha to kolejny sygnał, że Apple wciąż szuka właściwego kierunku dla swojego ekosystemu domowego. Firma ma ambicje, by uczynić smart home jednym z filarów przyszłego wzrostu, ale na razie projekt pozostaje w fazie przeciągających się prac i wewnętrznych zmian.

Über den intelligenten Ring von #Oura haben wir hier bei uns im #Blog bereits mehrfach berichtet. Der #Fingerring ist mit mehreren Sensoren ausgestattet, um so Körper- und Fitnesswerte messen und analysieren zu können. Anfang Oktober dieses Jahres hat Oura mit dem #OuraRing4Ceramic eine ganz neue Kollektion vorgestellt, die in vier neuen Farben erhältlich ist. Wir haben den #SmartRing jetzt ausprobieren können.

From all the sleep tracking apps (for iOS) out there I only know of one that tracks sleep dept - the only meaningful (imho) measure of how much I should sleep and of how my daily life is impacted by how (much) I slept. It's called #rise. I am either using or have used #sleepcycle, #oura and apple's own health integration (on the phone, I don't own a watch).
