  1. I have no idea what's going on with my #OtterAI, but it's displaying the menu item "Transcript" with "Tragronnscript." Anyone ever see anything like this?

  2. 🎙️ Oh no, Otter AI is apparently #eavesdropping on your riveting conversations about TPS reports! 🙄 Because nothing says "world domination" like a tech company secretly recording banal work chit-chat. 📈

  3. NPR: Class-action suit claims Otter AI secretly records private work conversations. “A federal lawsuit seeking class-action status accuses Otter.ai of ‘deceptively and surreptitiously’ recording private conversations that the tech company uses to train its popular transcription service without permission from the people using it.”

  4. The company's #AI powered transcription service called #OtterNotebook, which can do real-time transcriptions of #Zoom, #GoogleMeet & #MicrosoftTeams meetings, by default does not ask meeting attendees for permission to #record & fails to alert participants that recordings are shared with #Otter to improve its #ArtificialIntelligence systems, according to the suit filed on Friday.

  7. I am seeing more transcription bots, like otter.ai, being added to work calls.

I was thinking it would be really funny if, rather than a transcript, it looked at the video feeds, and wrote a screen play:

Bill squirmed under pressure, and committed to a release date: "We'll have the fix in production by the end of the month". But his body language suggested he'd say anything to get off the call.

  8. Trying the Otter AI transcription of an uploaded MP3 audio file that was created by using Downie to download a YouTube Webinar video as an MP4 that I then converted to an audio only MP3 with Permute.

I'm hoping the transcribing is good. It'll take abut 12 minutes in total for the whole process to transcribe a 50-minute video.

Before it would take 50 minutes as the video played and Otter AI listened and transcribed in real time.

  9. CW: When virtual worlds become even more virtual!

Just got off a virtual work meeting where we had an AI participant. One of my colleagues couldn't make it to the meeting so he sent an AI assistant to attend and take meeting notes! After the meeting, it sent us the transcript and I must say that it pretty accurately classified the whole meeting into subsections, summarizing what was discussed, including adding key words. No need to take manual meeting notes anymore? Feels like it could be pretty useful so that everyone can focus on the actual meeting.

For those curious - this is Otter AI, and the transcript isn't perfect. It does a really good job of transcribing what my American colleagues say and is pretty decent at understanding Indian accents but still messes up names and some words because we (most Indians) use received pronunciation. We've used Otter in the past for transcribing panel discussion that go on for 2-3 hours but that was done in the background and this was the first time we had the AI participating on behalf of a participant. It stayed muted throughout the meeting and when we tried to talk to it, it just let us know in the chat that it's taking notes on behalf of our colleague. I wonder if it's designed to listen to the word "otter" and then respond with a standard text msg.

I've missed some crucial meetings in the past and the notes were too vague, so maybe I'll consider using Otter AI assistant in the future. I'm always worried of some negative consequences that I may be overlooking when it comes to anything #AI, so if you know of any please do share!

  10. I'm testing otter.ai

on the free plan one gets 300 minutes of real time transcription per month.

Otto can also otter can also transcribe audio that has been recorded previously I'm wondering if the 300 minutes count against such previously recorded audio

I'm also wondering if otter is the best solution the best transcription solution

  11. @AnthonyBaker @choochus #otterai snippet:

it is not only a good song, it's good advice. You don't have to believe every single thought that tumbles out of your head. Just because it sounds like you talking. You can take that one of the crank wives. The song is turned out the lights from the album Fox war, I believe this I don't I have done very little research. I think their entire catalogue is like self produced self published.

  12. Anyone got an opinion on #OtterAI for written transcripts of meetings and videos? I would like to use something like that for my streaming videos, preferably live. The tools I've seen thus far either are shit or too expensive.
