The South Fork Fire wildfire is moving east of HWY 48 south of Alto Cafe to Cree Meadows Drive. We are moving this area into a SET status

Residents and visitors that want to voluntarily evacuate can now seek shelter at Capitan High School. The Ruidoso Convention Center is not taking any more evacuations and those that are there will shelter-in-place should the status at the Convention Center change. Otherwise, please get prepared in the event the status moves to GO

The Mescalero conservation will also be going home to home to notify residents.

Road Closure S of the Village of Ruidoso
Motorists, please be advised US 70 is closed from mm 249 (intersection NM 244) 4 miles east of Mescalero to mm 258 2 miles east of Carrizo. due to wildfires in the area. Please seek an alternate route at this time. Please use caution, reduce speed, and watch for all emergency personnel and equipment in the area.
