#OTD Looking back on this day to 22 January 1924.

This was the day that C. Aitchison of the Ōtautau Hotel, advertised that he had taken over the Ōtautau Livery Stables as well, and that he has a "new Dodge Sedan Car!"

Colin Aitchison was running the Ōtautau Hotel for four years from 1922 to 1925, he had taken over while Sarah Keith took a break. Her husband passed away & she had continued on for a time with daughter Nellie.

#OTD - looking back to 21 January 1913. Today, in history, the attached advertisement of JN Brown, Family Butcher, was put in the local paper.

John N Brown had a shop here that he ran as a butchery from 1910, it remained in the family with brothers Douglas and Allan taking over as Brown Bros' #Butchery. Eventually Douglas’ son Allan took over for himself after WW2, he sold the business in 1959.

Its now owned by #Ōtautau Joinery and today operates as an outlet for Carleton's #Winton Pharmacy.
