It's a week since Otakon and I miss it so much. Had a blast this year, and probably my favorite year since it moved to D.C.
Hung out with a lot of friends (like @station, @ScottSpaziani, @Zarf), hit a bunch of good food spots (except Beer Lab DC... Never go there, the service is HORRENDOUS)
Also staying until Monday this year made a huge difference in the experience. Got to really enjoy the afternoon and evening on Sunday without worrying about going back to the convention.
Can't wait for 2025!

We're finally back from Otakon. Despite the parking garage incident, we had a great time in Washington, DC. There was lots of amazing cosplay to see, fun panels, and just hanging out with friends. I'm looking forward to next year.

Done with Otakon 2024, but not DC yet. Will post some things I bought this week.
Had a blast all weekend with friends and hitting panels. Sadly Otakon failed getting a good concert lineup through the weekend, but it's whatever. Still a fun weekend.

Our last day at Otakon. We're just going to check out a fan panel, then probably hit the road.
A special middle finger goes out to the asshole that hit our parked car in the parking garage. Because only a jackass tries to get an SUV or truck onto a space for compact cars. Nothing like a parking garage hit and run to sour the mood.

Well, whaddyaknow. Turns out one can just walk up & buy a retail pass to "Otakon" here in Washington DC. Video games, speaking sessions, parades, panels, sessions. Cool! 😁

It's been an amazing year at Otakon so far this year. We recently finished up the (new) Animego and Discotek panels. Great announcements as always.
Also, Otakon tells you to go to bed after 1am. (I went to a Psycho-Pass panel that started at 12:45 am.)

The convention thinned out a little. We were able to get to the dealer's room and artist alley. Alas, the number of booths selling physical DVDs and Blu-rays gets smaller and smaller every year.

The Dealer's room and Artist alley reached their occupancy. I've never seen this before at Otakon. The crowds are huge this year. I think the con will break number records.
Anyway, we just went out to lunch.

Dinner at the Founding Farmers was amazing last night. It's a little bit of a hike to get there (a ride on the Metro), but the food was worth it.

Ultimately, I was able to get my missing registration sorted out without issue yesterday.
As for today, a few panels caught my eye, but I don't see myself doing much before noon. Well, outside of getting breakfast and wandering the con floor.

Definitely going to roll into the Otakon pre-reg line with my Anthrocon 2024 gear in spite. I can at least say the big furry con DIDN'T fumble on my registration information. I'm a little miffed as this is the first time this happened in nearly 20 years of attending Otakon.
