Last year at the Open Science Retreat (#OSR24NL) I have been introduced to nanopubs by @egonw and created my first nanopub declaring citations for a paper using CiTOs (citation ontologies).
Now, travelling to #OSR25CH, due to issues with the train network foreseen with plenty of time, I used the opportunity and created a new one ( https://w3id.org/np/RAicq7k9QHX8EG8ho7Baib9GxHsU18O0tyFCZ4tbbGGPA ) for my latest publication on teaching #Snakemake on #HPC systems.
The teaching material is — again — in desperate need of additions and overhaul, but that is for another day.

One of the things from this year that I'm most proud of is the guidance document that we set up during the #OSR24NL retreat, and that I took back to our faculty to actually implement it! We are not at the implementation stage yet, but the guidance document went through several rounds of feedback, which has led to some changes. So it was time to upload a new version on Zenodo:

Still a lot of work to do, but happy where I left this.

@Jeroenson @OpenScienceNL So, the real question will be, what the "remaining part" and "target oriented" actually means. When I was in Noord-Holland in spring (#OSR24NL), I was envying my Dutch counterparts. I sincerely hope that this feeling lives on.

So many things came out of the Open Science Retreat this year! 🤩
A bot that shares learning resources, a guidance document for staff assessment, and speculative fiction are just a few examples.

@tschfflr as you know: been on #osr24nl lately. Pretty productive, too.
We cannot live our academic lives entirely being "on retreat", obviously. But we should wonder if a retreat is such a big productivity boost:
- is anything wrong with our daily routines?
- should we not go on retreats more often?
- can we save bits of that retreat-feeling after a retreat?
- can we have a mini-retreat (whatever that is) more often? -
I'm proud to share the output that I contributed to during the #OSR24NL last week!
Recognising Open Science practices in higher education staff assessment https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.10904114
This is a guidance document to encourage and take into account Open Science practices during assessment interviews.
It was a pleasure to work on this with Florian, Tanya, Zafer and @nsunami!
Onwards to the next #OpenScience retreat: can't wait!

The past week at the Open Science Retreat was incredibly inspiring and helped me clear my mind.
Such great conversations, walks in the dunes, workshops, bar evenings, science karaoke, ...

I wish we had a report/preprint server like BioHackrXiv (https://osf.io/preprints/biohackrxiv/discover) for #openscience events like #OSR24NL Might be a huge success

Just travelling back from 2024 edition of the Open Science Retreat. We got a ton of work done - more will surely follow in various blogposts from me and others.
During the retreat, I "was promoted to a #snakemake maintainer". Snakemake is a complex software with many dependencies. This is a reminder to me to cherish the work of those who contribute to free open source software and help research.

For any outputs that we are creating at the #OSR24NL #openscience retreat, we have set up a collection @ResearchEquals -- a modular scholarly publishing platform that lets you publish diverse / intermediate outputs. The first item in the collection is a shareback a conversation about "persona non grata" see https://www.researchequals.com/collections/mrhg-9r

Already a brilliant new thing made at #OSR24NL there is now a FOERRT bot @FORRT_bot that highlights syllabi and courses about #OpenScience, #Reproducibility and related subjects. These materials are Open Educational Resources #OER that have been collected in @FORRT’s curated resources. This bot was created during the 2024 Open Science Retreat #OSR24NL and is run by @lavaeolus, @juliapauquet & @lydiariedl

@glynmoody, do you happy to know, or someone who does, why isitopendata.org (for other readers, the website is now used for spam, so check this @internetarchive version instead, http://web.archive.org/web/20151109074346/http://www.isitopendata.org/) stopped at some point? We're just discussing at #OSR24NL the need for something like this, and I was wondering why it stopped. My guess it that it was too early, and the (potential) users not ready for it yet?
