Ich möchte Informationen zur Navigation (Turn-by-turn-Navigation, voraussichtliche Ankunftszeit usw.) aus #OSMAnd via #Gadgetbridge zur Anzeige auf ein Wearable senden. Idealerweise soll das dauerhaft angezeigt werden. Bisher habe ich es nur geschafft, dass die nächste Abzweigung als Benachrichtigung gesendet wird.

Seit vielen Monaten nutze ich OsmAnd~ statt Googlemaps und bin sehr zufrieden. Jede:r hat andere Ansprüche, aber ich denke, einen Versuch ist es wert.
Das andere Programm kenne ich nicht.

I've finally rid of #meta apps from my #android phone. Now to sort out #google apps & find an alternative #Foss #os for my phone. Unfortunately these phone OS's are either too expensive to buy & use or unavailable for majority of phones out there. I'm already using #Foss app's to replace some of the Google app's.
I'm using @pixelfed instead of #instagram and obviously @Mastodon instead of #facebook. For emails, I've #thunderbird and for #maps I've #osmandapp. I use #fdroid instead of #playstore

It's like #wikipedia just for maps. It provides a free and open-source alternative to Google Maps. I use it with #osmandapp for car navigation.

No prior knowledge necessary.
The app guides you to complete missing map data by little quests. Careful though: it's very addictive.

Habe mir gerade erstmals die #osmandapp heruntergeladen, weil ich eine gute LKW-Navigation haben will. Mal schauen, wie sich die App so im Alltag anstellt. Der erste Eindruck ist schon mal vielversprechend.

After a delicious dinner, we went for a digestive walk with the midnightsun and making some survey. Of course I used the Osmand app with Quick Action function, Streetcomplete and took pictures with Mapcomplete.

#TIL that #OsmAnd has a setting to colour tracks according to the speed you used when walking them, or the altitude of each part (among other things):

Openstreetmap is a collaborative work. Someone has mapped every single car park here. Someone else has mapped the buildings and house numbers. I mapped the missing POI while we were travelling through and my +1 was shopping. Everyone can make a small contribution.
Let's make a better map.

@pnorman Beautiful visualization. You can see that it's not so much used in the US when compared to Europe. This corresponds with my experience when using #osmandapp on a recent road trip to big cities on the US East Coast. Was surprised to see how much data was still missing from OSM.

Why?
Because the value is already long enough.

What is the use of it?
When hiking, i can see whether the diversion to the next vending machine at the farm is worthwhile, or i don't have the appropriate coins with me. Of course this applies also to parking tickets machine and public toilets.

13 years ago I made my first commit on @openstreetmap and have now more than 600 commits. This is of course a modest effort but still interesting to reflect on the places I visited and #hotosm datasets I have assisted in... It's not so difficult to do, #osmandapp makes it very easy to add POI etc. #map #osm

It would probably help if I'd download all provinces before going cycling, though. 😅
#OsmandApp worked perfectly, as usual, telling me exactly where to take a turn, also without the map of Gelderland province. <3

I just realized that there is a Ski Tour and even a whitewater Kayak mode in #OsmAndApp!

Ich kann die Karte nicht mehr wirklich nutzen, weil ich nur noch grünes Gewusel sehe. Hab die Einstellungen durchforstet und nicht gefunden, woran es liegen könnte, auch nach "auf Voreinstellung zurücksetzen" unter Konfiguration sieht es noch genauso aus...

@koellefornia @deelite @heinzskunk @fedibikes also die App gibts kostenfrei mit einer begrenzten Anzahl an Regionen. Das Abo kostest 9,99 im Jahr, da hat man dann alle Karten weltweit offline verfügbar.
Find ich jetzt generell nicht zu viel für so eine App. #osmand #osmandapp #openstreetmap

@sebsauvage @Dio94 merci pour les infos. J'avais déjà la version fdroid, mais sur mon Fairphone 2 Open OS, non seulement ça ramait et chauffait mais la recherche des rues était à la rue. Viens d'installer la version Osmand+, hoouu mais ça à l'air tout bien tout gentil, et ça maaarche !
En plus trop bien les indications des dénivelés sur tout le trajet :-)
