  1. My #RP2040 #OpenRGB Smart ARGB Splitter PCBs came! #OSHPark did a great job on them and they work as expected. Splitting one ARGB/WS2812 signal into up to 8 output channels.

  2. For Bay Area Maker Faire this year, I created some giveaway keychain PCBs based on the EMF Explorer Badge, and folks got to practice soldering using iFixit's Power Series portable soldering stations. Big thanks to @oshpark for producing the circuit boards, and @iFixit for sharing their soldering irons for folks to use. Catch me at an event, and I might just have a few left to share. #ifixit #oshpark

  3. For #Teardown2024, I used art from that year's t-shirts to create an SMD solder challenge board. The OG design made by MakersBox was a perfect fit for the escalator artwork, which I converted into PCB layers and printed by @oshpark. The component sizes went from 1206 to 0201, which is comically small and not meant to be soldered by hand. Regardless, some folks were able to achieve a full build! #oshpark

  13. @3dprinting This morning I soldered the FilaBilly dehumidifier PCB. I need to crimp up some connectors, reprint the orange standoff/surround (it's like 0.3mm too tight), and finish the firmware. Then it'll be system testing time! I already know the ESP32 boots, either from USB or 12V power.

I found out about r/PrintedCircuitBoard yesterday, so I'll ask for a PCB review there, even though the board is assembled.

  14. Anybody know how to get a semi circle edge cut in #KiCAD with #oshpark? I tried to get a connector's key cut but oshpark didn't drill it. Do I need to place an nc via here?

  15. @recantha using KiCad is an art. It's relatively easy to learn, and getting your first PCB from #oshpark is not too hard (and rewarding). Designing for low-cost prototype services is more difficult. Using the correct design rules, using supplier component databases, balance default components with special components (if available), label them correctly, double- and triple-check orientation of, e.g., diodes...

Having an up-to-date guide certainly saves time (or money).

  21. 2 months later my custom flex #pcbs to fix crappy cheap #usbc devices which can't work with c-c cables; have arrived from #oshpark

  22. Allison Parrish wrote about their journey to add a hinge to the Game Boy Pocket. The design of a flexible PCB played a pivotal role:

  23. James Wilson has designed an open source active oscilloscope probe that can handle signals up to 2 GHz

  25. I also tried to have #OSHpark bid my #PCB fabrication.

Their website claims to support #KiCAD files directly, but it choked because I'm now on #KiCAD8 , which was released about a week ago.

They also wanted more for 3 pieces (with soldermask only available in their trademark purple) than I paid for 8 pieces (in my choice of color) through one of my old favorites, Colorado's #AdvancedCircuits ( 4pcb.com ).

  30. First attempt at designing a custom PCB and having it printed. Plenty of lessons learnt but it works!

  32. The ExADXL breakout board makes it simple to mount an ADXL module, or multiple ADXL, to a Raspberry Pi Pico. This is a popular approach to adding extra resonance measuring instruments to a Klipper-controlled 3D printer.

  33. For a bit of research yesterday I uploaded gerbers to a few of the well known budget PCB fab houses. JLC, DirtyPCB etc... two things I found, one is that if you're working on smaller boards less than 2*2cm and not in a particular rush nowhere is cheaper than #OSHpark. Also all the services are now really slick at file upload/rendering/ordering. I remember lots of pain with many services say 6-8 years ago!

  34. Just got the "long term plan don't ask when available" iCEBreaker V1.99a FPGA dev board prototypes from @gregdavill! Looking very sharp! I am looking forward to getting rid of the FTDI chip! But that will be quite a while as there is a lot of embedded software to write. I need more time... :( #fediverse-exclusive #fpga #embedded #prototype #PCB #opensource #oshpark #purple
