Sadly, the UK has done little to build on #OSA and strengthen its weaknesses.
And enforcement against the techbros dangerous services is far too weak still.
And weak governments are still taking too much advice from the bad players they are trying to regulate.
But I'll still choose a weak OSA over the techbro free-for-all - and I'll keep pressing for improvements.

I think you mischaracterised my position.
I thought (and still do), that #OSA is a first step to shifting some safety liability and restrictions onto an out of control tech industry.
They have services that are known to be dangerous to children and adults, by design. OSA set the first legal boundary in UK law.
I thought much more work needed to be done around age gating and I felt too much was being left to techbros to solve. And much more legislation was needed on data privacy

I recently read through the Proposed "Social Media Platforms (Ofcom Licensing) Bill"
My mind goes to, this is a threat, and it's not going to go well along with effecting a lot more than just Social Media Platforms. The writing is really broad in what they are saying to the stage that "Social Media" can count as Blogs, Mod Distribution or even Video Games themselves.
They'd really need to revise the terms to stop it from being so broad but one thing I also noticed is there's no Minimum user requirement making even single user Fediverse Instances be targeted for this, with proposed stakes such as 2 Years in Prison it does seem like they are really coming after platforms like us.
So what do I plan on doing if this comes into place? I saw nothing about payment towards getting a license, if this comes into place I'll do my best to get a license and keep Solent.Social online, if we do not qualify for a license because of term changes amazing I will keep operating this amazing platform with keeping in mind what the limit of users or other features are and keep away from those small things.
In the end of the day this is currently early days of proposal, it's to broad to be enforced effectively and we are here to stay. I will keep doing things to comply with the other sides of the OSA such as limiting public viewing of NSFW content via hiding them (You can still follow and see NSFW content if you so wish) but also no Under 16 is on Solent.Social, this is not due to the OSA's changes with the Social Media Ban coming in the future but simply we are currently invite only and as a 24 Year Old I don't know many under age people other than my siblings and I plan on keeping it that way.
For now, anyone wanting an invite to Solent.Social is welcome to reach out to me, I'll be pushing for more NSFW accounts being found, more custom emojis and keep doing my moderation into the future.

Firstly, there is no "survey" of children. This is anecdotal claims the commissioner references. She specifically complains about the lack of data.
Second, the is zero data on small forums closing. Given how weak Ofcom enforcement is, and that zero effort has been expended on small forums, it's highly improbable. The handful of incidents I've heard were overreaction by the forum admin, taken IMO in bad faith to smear OSA.

С точки зрения безопасности это такой же риск для цепочки поставок ПО, как и другие вредоносные компоненты. Меня зовут Имиль Валиуллин, я тимлид команды разработки платформы OSA. В предыдущих статьях цикла On Shelf Availability (OSA) уже разбирали с разных сторон: что такое OSA как продукт, как устроен алгоритм детекции аномалий и весь конвейер генерации сигналов — эвристики, ML‑модели, фильтры, обратная связь, A/B и оценка эффекта (ссылки на предыдущие статьи: 1 , 2 , 3 ). В этой статье мы раскрываем следующий слой — инженерный. Потому что всё перечисленное было бы невозможно без большой работы под капотом: данных, транспорта, оркестрации, SLA, мониторинга, качества данных, обратной связи, API и доставки сигналов в торговые точки. Многие забывают, что даже самая крутая ML‑модель — это только верхушка айсберга. Результат появляется только тогда, когда под ней есть надёжный фундамент: чистые данные, стабильный транспорт и бесперебойная доставка. Как говорится, garbage in — garbage out, и наоборот: качественный фундамент позволяет получить качественный результат. Главная мысль, которую мы хотим донести: алгоритмы сами по себе не создают эффект. Эффект появляется только тогда, когда вокруг них построена инженерная система, которая каждый день стабильно считает, доставляет, проверяет и масштабирует результат. Показать это мы хотим через эволюцию продукта — от legacy и ручных запусков до промышленной платформы, работающей на масштабе сети. С точки зрения пользователя это всё тот же продукт — сигналы на торговых точках (ТТ) , помощь сотрудникам магазина, рост доступности товара. Но под капотом OSA прошёл несколько серьёзных инженерных перерождений, которые мы для удобства назвали «эпохами»: каменный век, бронзовый, железный и индустриальная эпоха.

Read up on #OSA . It doesn't require age checks, unless a company provides content that is illegal for U18 IRL.
These tech giants got to this ban because they refused to moderate, while making adult content pervasive.
Any company can provide all age content, with zero age checks. It has always been about moderation - and the consequence of not doing it effectively.
Seems they're taking the latest UK internet legislation a bit more seriously on Nostr.

Side note: don't get me wrong. I support many of the things in your bio. I think we need to be critical of corporate-bought gov. Whereas I've seen lots of noise about sites pulling their own pages down because of scaremongering about OSA.

"Our submission suggested that Ofcom should consider whether the provider may violate the laws of a third country in complying with a technology notice. There is no such requirement in the Act, and it was not mentioned in Ofcom’s guidance. The guidance did note that a technology notice will only be imposed in relation to the operation of a service in the UK or as it affects UK users of the service. But there are serious concerns over whether an accredited technology could target only UK users on a global communications service without sweeping in the communications of users in other countries (and thus triggering a potential conflict of laws). We advised that a requirement should be added to the guidance that Ofcom should consider conflicting liabilities on the service provider before issuing a notice. In response, Ofcom amended the guidance to state that it will consider a potential conflict with foreign law, so long as such a conflict is raised by the provider.
This is an issue which I think has been overlooked in much of the commentary (academic and policy) on this power and similar proposed powers debated in the EU child sexual abuse regulation. Most of the services that are within scope of technology notices (and the proposed EU ‘detection orders’) are global services. I expect it would be technically difficult, not to mention costly, for these service providers to figure out how to scan the communications of only UK users. Further, how are we identifying a ‘UK user’—someone who is in the UK, a UK citizen, a UK resident, etc? Limiting the interception or scanning of communications to UK users may play politically, but in practice, it seems infeasible."
