One of the saddest stories is Ishi, the the last known member of the Native American Yahi people. In 1911, aged 50, he emerged at a barn and corral, 2 mi from downtown Oroville. The Mother Orange Tree is the oldest living orange tree in Northern California. Planted in 1856, and transplanted twice from its original location. My Dad moved from Michigan to California in 1954. He loved the fact that he could grow citrus fruit in our backyard.
