  1. Scenes from Oroville, CA
Oroville Carnegie Library, or as it is now the Butte County Public Law Library. I'm always on the lookout for Carnegie libraries on my travels. We could sure use more Andrew Carnegies today. Talking to you, all you billionaires. #Oroville #ButteCounty #California #architecture #history #Carnegie #ClassicalRevival #library #NationalRegisterofHistoricPlaces

  2. Scenes from Oroville, CA
Oroville State Theatre, opened in 1928. Lovingly restored. It's on the National Register of Historic Places. I wished I could have seen the inside. I kept finding more interesting things as I was walking and driving around the area. #history #architecture #SpanishColonialRevival #NationalRegisterofHistoricPlaces #NRHP #theatre #theater #neon #Oroville #ButteCounty #California #GoldCountry

The indigenous California peoples harvested acorns and ground the meal on stone mortars using stone pestles. One of the saddest stories is Ishi, the the last known member of the Native American Yahi people. In 1911, aged 50, he emerged at a barn and corral, 2 mi from downtown Oroville. The rest of the Yahi were killed in the California genocide in the 19th century. #NativeAmerican #indigenouspeople #indigenous #Oroville #California #acorn #ButteCounty #history

The Mother Orange Tree is the oldest living orange tree in Northern California. Planted in 1856, and transplanted twice from its original location. My Dad moved from Michigan to California in 1954. He loved the fact that he could grow citrus fruit in our backyard. So, we always had orange and lemon trees in our backyard and fresh citrus fruit right from the tree. #citrus #MotherOrangeTree #GoldCountry #Oroville #California #ButteCounty #history #landmark

  5. I visited Shasta Lake on Saturday... so beautiful and still filling with water! Water isn't being released there like at Lake Oroville, which has now FALLEN a foot to the same level it was on Thursday!
