I’ve always wanted to have a tour of a pipe organ and have a go on one and I’ve just discovered that the Royal College of Organists did a whole series of events in 2025 for people to do exactly this… and I MISSED IT.

Does mastodon have a bunch of organists? Does anyone in the south of England want to show me their organ? (Steady now, you bunch of perves)

I would be so, SO happy.

o yes…. I actually played Neon Genesis Evangelion’s theme song Cruel Angel’s Thesis as the church prelude this morning 🤯
Thank God for putting me on the spot — honestly, this might be the coolest job in the world ✝️😇
Note: This is just the rehearsal clip — I didn’t get a chance to record the live performance. It’s a 5-minute version where I also snuck in a little remix with a 1744 C major hymn, “Rejoice, the Lord is King.”

#holyweek #pipeorgan #organist

🎹 Pipe organ + Touchdesigner AI-driven audiovisual

2. Built interactive audio-reactive visuals in TouchDesigner
3. Controlled particle dynamics using AI-generated video inputs

So, did you all know about the woman who was #French #Baroque #harpsichordist, #organist, and #composer?

Well name was Elisabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre and she was recruited as a musician into the Court of Louis XIV while she was still a teenager.

Here's a great performance of one of her instrumental pieces using period instruments.

Hans Fährmann was a #German composer and #organist, described by the critics of his time as a Richard #Strauss of the organ litterature.
Erster Siegessatz from 1916 is much more than a simple patriotic piece to celebrate a victory (which was never to come)
