I was reading Growing Communities' weekly veg scheme email, and I was surprised to learn that their prices haven't been affected that much by the US-Iran war. The simple reason is that organic farming doesn't use synthetic nitrogen fertilisers, which are made from fossil fuels. Our latest update from the smallest plot shows healthy tomato plants growing well. During our last visit, we tried a new planting method using recycled sacks. We applied organic chicken and goat manure collected from a nearby farmer in Kayihura. The tomatoes are strong, green, and promising. Today while moving to the town council, I saw young traders loading organic foods like matooke, jackfruits, and sugar canes heading to Kampala and other areas.
