  1. Portland’s #HorseBrassPub is hosting a new brewfest this weekend, inspired by the Horse Brass’ late founder Don Younger (the “Old Tavern Rat”) and #barleywine of the same name brewed in his honor: the Old Tavern Rat Barleywine Invitational Brewfest.

  2. To finish out #ValentinesDay weekend it's Thorns & Udders from #SunriverBrewing, a raspberry-infused variant of the brewery's award-winning Cocoa Cow Milk Chocolate Stout. Cheers!

  3. #NonAlcoholicBeer drinkers take note: Oregon has an exclusively #NonAlcoholic brewing company in Portland’s #RoamingNoblesBrewing, founded by Marla and Liam Hoban in 2021, the state’s first such company. Roaming Nobles has three core brands, IPA, Pils, and Tropical Pils, all less than 0.5% alcohol by volume, and at the end of December introduced its new West Coast Pils.

  4. #SunriverBrewing is at the top of my list for #FreshHop #beer from Central Oregon, and Fresh Hop Vicious is my gold standard of the style. This year’s fresh hop version of its award-winning Vicious Mosquito IPA is brewed with Centennial CGX Fresh Hops from #CrosbyHops. These are fresh hops that are frozen at harvest and something new the brewery is trying this year. It does not disappoint! With notes of pine greens, bergamot, and wintergreen. Cheers! 🍻

  5. To celebrate summer, I received four #beers from Portland’s #HopworksBrewery, all fruited brews built for the season: Ferocious Citrus #IPA, Totally #Radler, Blackberry #HazyIPA, and Rindless Watermelon #Gose.

  6. A recent article I have in the local paper covers #terpenes in #beer, specifically looking at the new Cross Joint Terpene IPA from #SilverMoonBrewing. Terpenes are naturally occurring compounds derived from plants, largely responsible for the aromas and flavors of plants.

  7. My latest article for the local paper, which came out last week on #LeapDay (the bonus day!), features #ImmersionBrewing and two recent specialty stouts released by the brewery: Meraki and Onism. Both are blended, #BarrelAged stouts, with Meraki a blend of stout and barleywine and Onism a blend of several stouts.

  8. My latest article for the local paper takes a look at the newest in the Coolship Experiment beer series from #CruxFermentationPorject, Crux Coolship Experiment No. 6. Crux teamed up with #RogueCreamery of southern Oregon to brew a #lambic style ale in which the same microorganisms used to create Rogue’s #BlueCheese were used to inoculate the wort.

  16. Portland’s #VonEbertBrewing consistently crafts solid beers across a range of styles, and this summer the brewery sent me samples from its core lineup to review: Pils, Volatile Substance #IPA, and Sector 7 #HazyIPA.

  17. One of the newest beers added to the #DeschutesBrewery year-round lineup this year is Symphonic Chronic Double Dank #IPA, a resinous and fruity ale that “combines West Coast kettle hopping with East Coast dry hopping” in a big #beer with 9% alcohol by volume.
