@dzwiedziu WeSense uses a few different P2P technologies actually, #OrbitDB for basic peer awareness, #Zenoh for the live pipeline and #Iroh for historical archives.

Computer Networks GroupThe Computer Networks Group researches and develops distributed infrastructure for secure communication and computation at all levels of the networking stack. Our past activities include work on sensor networks, autonomic operations of networks, bio- and chemically-inspired networking, as well as mobile code. Currently our main focus is on survivable computing.
The aim of the P2P Basel workshop is to bring together researchers and software builders to share insights and collaborate towards the sound and sustainable development of efficient eventually-consistent (offline-first) peer-to-peer systems. Examples of related projects of interest are Secure #Scuttlebutt , DAT/Hypercore , Cabal , #Tox, BitMessage , #IPFS , Socket Supply co., #OrbitDB , Earthstar , Willow , #Nostr , #Holochain , #P2Panda , #GNUnet , #Hyphanet , #Freenet , #Zeronet , #Retroshare , #NextGraph , #Web3 , #serverless , #maidsafe , #matrix , Other P2P projects that are based on stronger consistency models, such as Mass Market are also of interest.

I recently learned about #IPDB; a distributed database used by #ATProto. I wonder if you could build an #ActivityPub implementation that uses #IPFS for content distribution, and IPDB for distributing the activity data.

Congrats to the only real #serverless #database #OrbitDB for reaching v1.0!
"OrbitDB is a serverless, distributed, peer-to-peer database. OrbitDB uses #IPFS as its data storage and #Libp2p #Pubsub to automatically sync databases with peers. It's an eventually consistent database that uses #Merkle-#CRDTs for conflict-free database writes and merges making OrbitDB an excellent choice for #p2p and decentralized apps, blockchain applications and #localfirst #webapps."

#RFC: I implemented a #PoC for my #MutatingSecrets scheme that I think can be used to
- mint new coins
- receive & transfer them as JSON Files
- run a timestamping authority.I've already setup a test TSA and would like to ask if there's anyone willing to play with this code and review my idea and implementation.

@cjd @cwebber @Hyolobrika true.
That's a problem I'm trying to solve right now.
I think about using #OrbitDB as a distributed database on #IPFS.
This would mean that the TSA could publish any claim they timestamp on #OrbitDB where it'd be in everyone's interest (if they don't want to be dupped out of their money) to pin them or to coordinate with some people to collectively pin these claims.

I've been reading a little about #ipfs #orbitdb and #dapps.
it's all really rad, but I can't really think of a compelling use case.
like an app relying on a distributed db would be great in a dystopian future where everything is datamined and manipulated by the thought police, but for the moment I don't live there.

Check out how we are shaping the future of decentralised discourse at Capsule Social (https://capsule.social), using Web3 technologies such as IPFS and OrbitDB.
This video was the result of our week long workshop in Paris!
