  1. Rowed a 2:50.23 1000m last Wednesday, then ran a 6:22 mile today. Two new PRs to start the year! #orangetheory

  2. The trainers have been great on customizing the workouts for me to avoid bulking up shoulders—although thats recently just meant my glutes are getting a lot of attention and are constantly sore. 🤣

I can definitely see this becoming a cornerstone of our weekly routine and us settling in to the local microculture. Never thought transition would end up making me a gym bunny but really this is just surprising new life development #468.

  3. Also got 23 splat points (23 minutes spent at >84% of my maximum heart rate), which is my best (and will get harder to match or beat as my max heart rate increases).

All of that was on the treadmill—I have yet to figure out how to get my heart rate up on the rowing machines without feeling like I'm going to vomit. I think it's a body-systems-mismatched thing (my arms are so sad compared to my legs) and I’ll get past it in time.

  4. #OrangeTheory continues (and will continue through November cause its a 3 month starting commitment).

Am trying to internalize that when the trainer uses the words "last," "final," or "all-out," they are LYING. Its not the last push of the day's workout, its the last push of this block, and there are two more blocks. Don't actually go all-out because after that you're doing walking recovery and then two more rounds of "all-outs."

Watch the clock, Mimsy. It's an hour of sweating.

  5. Worked out this weekend 💪🏽 and am in a challenge called Push 30, where we complete 12 workouts at OTF within 30 days, and practice 3 daily habits, e.g. hydrate more, eat more veggies, drop alcohol or candy, etc. i am a bit behind because I skipped workouts last week. I enjoy challenges like this to keep me motivated. 😊 #orangetheory

  6. Managed to get in a #workout today. I like to go to #orangetheory a few times a week. I was tired, but still glad I got in there. With work and school, finding the time has been tough, but I’m trying to prioritize this as well. #fitness #exercise #workLifeBalance #selfCare

  7. Switching from #OrangeTheory to a regular gym to have access to a more complete strength workout. I'm using #Hevy app to track my routines, which I'm getting from #JeffNippard over on the YouTube. Anybody here also using Hevy?

First week done, and I'm feeling pretty good. The app gives a lot of summary data for muscle groups and exercises. It's interesting how different some of the exercises are with a barbell instead of dumbbells.

  8. Today was #DriTri day at #OrangeTheory, and they had the first Strength edition of the event. The 2k row and floor block are replaced by 3 rounds of 300m rows with 10x burpees, push-ups, bench tap squats, hammer curl to shoulder press, and front-load reverse lunges between rows. Finish with a treadmill block. With my neck issues I half to power walk, so that was a half mile starting at 12% incline, dropping to 10% half way. Was a lot harder than I expected.

  9. I have been told for Mastodon to work I need to do an intro with #hashtags. Serious “hey fellow kids” vibes but ok.

    I am Betsy. I am an #evangelist in #developerrelations at #Apple.

    I #knit and make yarn on my #spinningwheel. In the summer I #row. I’m a big #orangetheory fitness fan.

My #dog is named Toby and he will be one of the #dogsofmastodon. The correct number of #dogphotos is aleph-nought.

#starwars and #videogames and #lordoftherings and general #nerddom are my jam.
