#PersonalWin from last weekend: a 2 mile #OpenWaterSwim across the local lake in a little over an hour. Had a great time and/but am ready for moar speed. I’d like to shave 15 mins off (at least!) and finish under an hour. Personal trainer: found! First lesson: this Friday! Let’s 🏊🏻!

Raise a hand if you go for an #OpenWaterSwim, do your stinky best to swim gracefully and calmly (to conserve energy), not care about the pace, but end up disappointed at the end of it because… of the slow pace.

The beauty of the ritual.
Today I went for an #OpenWaterSwim that lasted a whopping 6 minutes. My wetsuit did litttle to protect my hands and feet. They quickly became numb and I decided to turn back.
What a waste of time, I thought, while cycling back home.
But, after hanging everything to dry I realized that I very much enjoy the whole ordeal: waking up early, cycling to the lake, greeting the water birds, gettin in the water, the swim and then everything in reverse.
A beautiful ritual.

It was a bit cold, the lizard brain freaked out and we had to reverse course.
Will have to get a pair of gloves and footwear.

Very picturesque at #combsreservoir this morning, but a chilly 8C in the water. Been a few weeks since my last #openwaterswim and the water temperature has certainly plummeted!

Took the plunge (😜) and registered for the 5K Open Water Crossing of Lake Constance (Bodensee), from Constance to Meersburg. Day X is Saturday June 29th, so there is still time for training 🏊♂️ 🏊♂️ 🏊♂️ .

Open Water Swim is the best Swim. Swam the 1K and 2K today at Insel-Ligerz-Schwimmen. Waiting in the blazing sun in neoprene before we were allowed in the water, was a bit annoying. But other than that, very nice afternoon in the water.

Today I replaced my lunch break #running with an #OpenWaterSwim and it definitely will be a feature of my summer!!

The open water swim from Faulensee to Spiez went pretty good. There was a constant headwind, but swimming the other direction would have presented some logistical issues with the SUPs. Water was refreshing on a hot day like this.

Registered for the 3km swim at the "Ligerz Schwimmen". Have not swam in Lake Biel before. Curious what the visibility will be.

Was looking for a new and challenging open water swim event to participate in. Found a very cool one, but the date (already end of June) could not be worse. For one I'm not nearly trained enough, but a conflict with another event is killing it for sure.
At least I now know what to aim for in 2024: the crossing of the Bodensee, swimming from (almost) Switzerland to Germany. My longest swim so far is 4km, so the 5km crossing will be a real challenge.

Absolutely gorgeous #openwaterswim swim this morning at #CombsReservoir near #WhaleyBridge in #derbyshire. Localised low-lying cloud was lifting as we arrived, creating a beautiful, atmospheric scene as we walked down to the swim point. Water was 8.5C but it seemed much warmer in the sunshine so we enjoyed a fantastic 20 minute dip.
