102"Bose released the Application Programming Interface (API) documentation for its SoundTouch speakers today, putting a silver lining around the impending end-of-life (#EoL) of the expensive home theater devices.
"In October, Bose announced that its SoundTouch Wi-Fi speakers and soundbars would become dumb speakers on February 18. At the time, Bose said that the speakers would only work if a device was connected via #AUX, #HDMI, or #Bluetooth (which has higher latency than Wi-Fi).
"After that date, the speakers would stop receiving security and software updates and lose cloud connectivity and their companion app, the Framingham, Massachusetts-based company said. Without the app, users would no longer be able to integrate the device with music services, such as Spotify, have multiple SoundTouch devices play the same audio simultaneously, or use or edit saved presets.
"The announcement frustrated some of Bose’s long-time customers, some of whom own multiple SoundTouch devices that still function properly. Many questioned companies’ increasingly common practice of bricking expensive products to focus on new devices or to minimize costs, or because they’ve gone through acquisitions or bankruptcy. SoundTouch speakers released in 2013 and 2015 with prices ranging from $399 to $1,500.
"Today, Bose had better news. In an email to customers, Bose announced that #AirPlay and #SpotifyConnect will still work with SoundTouch speakers after EoL, expanding the wireless capabilities that people will still be able to access.
"Additionally, SoundTouch devices that support #AirPlay2 will be able to play the same audio simultaneously.
"The SoundTouch app will also live on, albeit stripped of some functionality."

y esto podria ser el punto de que podria inclinar la balanza en el tema de las Tecnologias de la Informacion.
En todas partes del planeta, donde se invierte en I&D en esta area, RISC-V ha venido cobrando una importancia cada vez mas grande... pues ya nadie necesita iniciar proyectos desde CERO, sino que pueden usar estos procesadores con este fina.
Asi lo han entendido 100-tos de empresas en Europa, USA e incluso en China para conseguir desarrollar o conseguir saltos tecnologicos.
La #libertad es un valor muy apetecido por la #propaganda en Los Esclavos Unidos, siempre y cuando sean ellos, y solo ellos, quienes la puedan ejercer a su entera disposicion, pues cuando la situacion cambia, inmediatamente buscan cambiar las reglas del juego, para que los vuelvan a favorecer en exclusiva.
Y RISC-V no podria ser la excepcion. #EEUU ya esta analizando la situacion legal y juridica de este proyecto #FLOSS u #OpenSources aplicado al #Hardware para que se aplique un doble estandar de Libertad, es decir, dentro de su territorio y fuera de él.
Segun los representantes del proyecto RISC-V, esto podria levantar un precedente que dañaria -una vez mas- la posicion del pais en el ajedres mundial... pero ya todos sabemos, cuanto le importa a #USA, que su credibilidad se vaya a la mierda. -

La empresa alemana #Volla (que yo no conocia) ha entrado a la competencia de entrar a ofrecer #telefono(s) moviles que cumplan con las siguientes cualidades: #Seguridad y Privacidad
Los aparatos, que por el momento son 3 modelos, vienen con 2 propuestas:
- #Ubuntu Touch #Linux y/o #VollaOS
VollaOS es un derivado de #android basico, es decir #AOSP, sin dependencias hacia #Google, ni hacia servicio externo alguno.
Todas las aplicaciones son #OpenSources y fueron (en sus propias palabras) escogidas tomando como base las ideas basicas de seguridad y privacidad.
Los aparatos tienen diseños simples, pero elegantes y cumplen con un estandar (que para mi suena absolutamente nuevo) militar MIL-STD-810H
Por el momento cuentan con el "Volla Phone 22", "Volla Phone X" y el "Volla Phone X23".
Junto con su clara orientacion en favor de la PRIVACIDAD, otra cuestion que destaca y llama la atencion es la funcion #MultiBot, que nos posibilita correr y probar otros #OS en una tarjeta externa. Una oportunidad muy interesante para los aventureros y apasionados del descubrimiento.
Los aparatos se pueden encontrar a partir de los 450 euros en su propia tienda (al parecer actualmente envian a toda la zona Euro) volla.online
PD: Me parece genial todo el paquete. Lo que extraño son los aspectos que ofrece el #FairPhone (reciclabilidad, salarios fair, reparabilidad) y ojala alguna vez tambien miren en esa direccion. -

Ya hace unos años participaba de charlas sobre este tema, pues no podemos olvidar que todos los dispositivos electronicos "made in Los Esclavos Unidos" deben en primera instancia ser aprobados por el pentagono y la #NSA.
Tampoco podemos olvidar el triste capitulo del escandalo que se dio entorno a las librerias de seguridad y cifrado del kernel #Linux, cuando se descubrio que los cabecillas de su mantencion estaban en manos de la propia NSA... al menos de ese error -espero- se aprendio a que nada de lo que provenga de ese Estado (o de cualquier otro) deberia ser permitido en proyectos sensibles #OpenSources o #FLOSS
En los telefonos moviles tenemos la guerra de antemano ya perdida.
A mi en lo personal, mi unica esperanza es que mas empresas medianas de diferentes paises puedan conseguir desarrollar y fabricar la mayoria de las partes de los dispositivos electronicos o que en su defecto, en China (cuestion que lo veo imposible) alguna vez se dieran cuenta de los enormes beneficios que produciria el impulsar las licencias y patentes libres (esto ya da para toda una discusion y estudios).
Actualmente ya presenciamos como los objetivos han cambiado: Ya no importa la maximizacion de utilidades a traves del mejoamiento de las tecnologias... sino de quien consigue un trozo de la torta del poder y logra someter a otros paises (especialmente asi muestran las señales enviadas por la #UE, los #EU y sus estados satelites).
Lo que en su momento se consideraba a la #privacidad y el #anonimato como parte de los derechos civiles, hoy son privilegios (exclusivos de los mas poderosos).

I stopped using #spotify recently. Finding music on the internet is not a problem and most of the podcasts I listen to are found on YT. Listening to them via HoloPlay or invidious is still not very convenient. Many podcasts are also available on websites owned by these organisations/companies absolutely for free.
They also use many other sources, like Spreaker and do not care where I listen to them (they're #opensources advocates).
So what are the #FOSS apps you use for listening to podcast?
