Im so angry and frustrated. Open source is under attack, computer hardware prices are being driven up (i think on purpose) so no one can afford them. Governments are age verifying everything. Android is going closed off.

How can we fight back? I feel a call to arms or something of that sort. Im a developer and I feel like FOSS development are gonna be who shape the future of tech.

Im Büro des @[email protected] nutzen wir #LibreOffice schon viele Jahre erfolgreich. Vorher OpenOffice, StarOffice und davor die entsprechenden DOS Varianten von Text, Tabellen und Datenbanken. Nur einmal kauften wir in den 90ern eine Word 6 Lizenz. Ein kurzes Intermezzo einer MS Office Komponente. Es gab in den verg. Jahrzehnten einfach keine Notwendigkeit für MS Office, weder vom Funktionsumfang und erst recht nicht von der Useability.

Еще в студенчестве, слушая подкасты, я узнал про среду выполнения Bun.js. Тогда она была в бета-стадии и только теоретически подавала надежды на то, чтобы составить конкуренцию Node.js и Deno. Тогда я подумал, что это крутая штука, которая однажды может «выстрелить». Прошло время, я сменил несколько стеков: успел поразрабатывать на .net, позже стал Java-разработчиком. При этом моя любовь к Node не угасала. А в сентябре 2023 года я понял, что оказался прав в своей вере в Bun.js: она вышла в релиз. Сегодня я расскажу об этой новой среде выполнения, опишу процесс эволюции рантаймов JavaScript и продемонстрирую производительность Bun в сравнении с Node.js.
