I've reluctantly uninstalled Open-Shell on my Windows PC. I've used it to customize the Start menu for years.

While I prefer a clean, "classic" Start menu, I also like being able to access so many settings with a right click of Start in Win 11.

Win + X will reveal the same menu, but based on what I can glean online, Classic-Shell breaks that functionality. There is a possible workaround in settings that I'll have to try when I get home. #OpenShell

For those using Open Shell on Windows, is there a way to revert back to the Windows 11-style Start menu layout? Switching to the XP layout is really cool — brings back a lot of memories — and I remember using it back in the day. Really nice experience. Just curious if there's a way to keep the Windows 11 look while still using Open Shell.

I hope #OpenShell creates a classic taskbar replacement soon. One that can show all running tray icons and doesn't need to be restarted to toggle darkmode.

As I am forced to use #windows11: I managed to get back a reasonable start menu with #openshell ; but how do I get a systray clock that is actually readable from a distance?

In win11 the font is tiny. I tried various time/calendar software and none worked good enough to keep. I just want HH:mm in big digits and a usable calendar to check which day of the week a certain date is...

@jackf723 I've never heard of #OpenShell. The start menu doesn't look to be that nasty, I'll just delete all the microsoft crap off there and put my own stuff in instead.

Oh, never mind; I just needed to download the latest pre-release (?) version of OpenShell. And I just figured out I was running ExplorerPatcher on my old machine too. God, I'm so silly. 😌 Anyway, it should all work out just fine.

Should have known better than to think I could really have anything. Same model running the same OS, yet OpenShell, which makes my old machine usable practically right out of the box, doesn't work right on the new one after *an hour* of fiddling with it. 😡
