I really really want #OpenPrinter to come into existence soon! and at a price I can justify.
I could do with a not too chonky printer right now for handy printing of this and that, and I don't want to buy a different one when that one might become available soon.
There was an update in June saying "We are working tirelessly on the finishing touches before we launch our Crowd Supply campaign at some point in the next few months." So it really _could_ be soon-ish.
That said, I appreciate the team's wisdom in _not_ naming a date yet, because I know that the "few" in "few months" can stretch when it's a matter of ironing out technical nuances.

Sehr nice. Ist vielleicht nicht für jeden etwas, aber wenn sich erstmal eine Plattform und ein Framework mit Firmware etabliert hat, gräbt es hoffentlich den Wucherern das Wasser ab.
Zudem vielleicht auch schön für Schulprojekte und Ausbildung. Warum nicht für den kleinen Privatgebrauch und Bannerdruck für Demos.

Not a whole lotta meat in this "Progress Update", but they seem to still be movin forward on it. I really hope this whole #OpenPrinter idea don't tank before some of us get one to play with. It'd be even better if these dudes manage to inspire others to make similar stuff.

@kkremitzki @concretedog I have invited the creators of the #OpenPrinter to our booth, but as the license for their published construction plans was a CC license with "non-commercial" restriction, the licens was non-free and so #FOSDEM organizers have not accepted them.
The creators plan to open up their license once their printer is in production, so perhaps next year you will see it on FOSDEM ...

Mastofriends, j'ai besoin de conseils : je cherche une imprimante réseau WiFi.
C'est pour du petit administratif, c'est à dire 1-2 pages par jour, donc pas cher (occasion ou neuve) et durable, couleurs, avec le scanner intégré, compatible linux et macos. Mais surtout, installation facile, sans cloud, et sans application qui vient pomper tes données privées pour essayer de te vendre un abonnement surdimensionné d'achat de cartouches propriétaires (exit hp donc, mais je ne connais pas les autres marques grand public). Des conseils ?
Le re-pouet rend les impressions libres.

I am already in contact with the authors and support them from the software side. The software of the main controller board will be most probably PAPPL and libcups 3.x, making the printer appearing as a modern, driverless printer, both via network and via USB.
