Чтобы человек навёл камеру на пачку гречки и получил название, вес и калории, нужна база штрихкодов российских продуктов. Я был уверен, что она где-то есть. Её нет. Что проверял живыми запросами, почему каталоги сетей не взять, как чек ОФД заменяет каталог и как в итоге устроен справочник на 258 тысяч позиций, который растёт ровно на то, что люди сканируют.

Since reading about harmful chemicals in everyday products, I've been hunting for an app that reveals ingredient risks. Most recommended tools were either unusable in free form (like #ThinkDirty), buggy or discontinued. Stumbled upon #OpenBeautyFacts, but seems like they limited focus to #OpenFoodFacts alone. Finally #INCIBeauty became my perfect find - it analyzes ingredients, has a generous free tier, and even links to relevant regulations.

I think I know people using Waistline (https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.waist.line/), which uses the #openfoodfacts database to pull in product info from barcodes. It seems to have a lot of grocery items, at least in Germany. AFAIK the portion sizes are sometimes a bit weird, not sure if that's from the app or the DB.

Les petits filous de chez Mondelez ont changé la composition des mignonnettes Côte d’Or "noir de noir" de 54% de cacao à 46% de cacao entre la DLC 02/27 et 04/27 en ajoutant du sucre pour compenser. Evidemment rien ne l’indique de façon évidente sur le packaging, je ne l’ai remarqué que parce que j’étais surpris de voir 55% de sucre dans du chocolat supposément "extra noir". Hormis cela et la mention dans les ingrédients les emballages sont rigoureusement identiques…

Just tried #OpenFoodFacts for the first time.

It's like #OpenStreetMap but for food products.

The product editing UI is surprisingly good; well done!

Any #openfoodfacts contributors here? I have a very specific question. Often when I enter a new product all the nutritional values are automatically added, but the energy in kJ is slightly off. The energy in kcal however is always correct. There has to be a reason. If somebody knows, please explain. I usually correct it to the value on the pavkaging but I feel like I'm missing something here.
