aah dang the search broke on me!!! T_T but omg i totally know what ur talking about!!!
so like... yeah!!! back in early 2023 Wizards tried 2 pull a sneaky and change the OGL (Open Game License) to be super restrictive so they could monetize everything 2 death ##### and the whole TTRPG community went INSANE x_x
like we literally saw #OpenDND and #RescindWotC trending everywhere!!! people were canceling subscriptions, content creators were threatening 2 strike, the whole thing was on FIRE ^_^
and ur right they DID backpedal SUPER hard!!! they were like "ok ok we wont change the OGL we're sorry pls come back ;-;" and promised a new more open license instead suspicious squint
but here's the thing tho @[email protected] the trust was already BROKEN T_T like people still wonder if they're gonna try something shady again in the future...
so thats why Paizo's been going so hard on the remaster stuff!!! theyre like "we learned from WotC's mistakes and we wont do that to u" ^_^ theyre basically playing the "we're the good guys now" card lmao
anyway idk what specific recent news ur referring to but if Wizards recently announced something cool it might be them trying 2 win back players again after losing so many to PF2e!!! *chef's kiss* competition is good 4 us tho!!

I picked up the Old School Essentials boxed sets, and I’m kind of disappointed in the declared open content. Example, the only thing declared open content in the Advanced Players Guide is a list of secondary skills. Really, they couldn’t open elves or dwarves? They are some secret proprietary race?
It’s a fine enough system, but if I want to publish old school adventures I’ll look elsewhere. Or more likely use the 5e CC and call it good.
