🎬 Opencast Summit 2026 in Manchester, der elan war wieder mit dabei 🎉
Es war ein toller Austausch mit der Community und gefühlt besonders produktiv. Der „Preconference Workshop for Developers“ half, Entscheidungen in der Entwickler-Community zu treffen. Themen die die Opencast-Adopter bewegen: viel Tobira und natürlich KI.
Mit Vorträgen – u. a. zu CampusTube – konnten wir unsere Projekte vorstellen. Danke an die Orga und an Manchester als großartigen Host!

Aktiv statt passiv - So können kollaborative Lernprozesse die Hochschullehre verbessern.
Kollaboratives Lernen geht über das bloße gemeinsame Lernen hinaus. Im Mittelpunkt steht das gemeinsame Erarbeiten von Wissen. Mit Opencast lassen sich interaktive Lernformen unkompliziert in den Studienalltag einbinden und eröffnen neue Möglichkeiten in der Lehre.

This was a great photo trip, I was leaning over the fence at an old opencast site to photo The Ace Of Spades, a giant walking dragline excavator, which was being decommissioned and destined for a Indiana mine. The boss saw me and came over and invited me in for a proper look round it. Fab bloke, and a fab experience. I like the photo of the cab as it was and after being rebuilt in Indiana. #Excavator #Dragline #Coal #Opencast #Industry #Stobswood #AceOfSpades

Als Lernmanagementsystem profitiert ILIAS an mehreren Stellen von einer engen Anbindung an Opencast. Für Lehrende und Systemadmins wird vieles einfacher. Ganz zu schweigen von den Vorteilen, die Studierende aus der Verbindung ziehen können.
Wir schauen uns an, welche Plugins den Alltag in der digitalen Lehre vereinfachen und welche Rolle der elan dabei spielt.

Wir setzen die Reihe fort: Opencast hat sich in vielen LMS bereits einen festen Platz gesichert - so auch in Moodle.
Durch die Opencast Plugins wird aus Moodle ein echtes Videoportal. Die Plugins bestehen aus mehreren Bausteinen, die zusammen dafür sorgen, dass Videos aus Opencast direkt in Moodle verwaltet und genutzt werden können, ohne dass Nutzende ständig zwischen Systemen wechseln müssen.

Safety First 🛡️ heißt es bei den neuen Opencast Testsystemen des elan e.V.
Fehlerhafte Updates kosten Nerven und Zeit. Deshalb hat der elan e.V. nun Testinstanzen entwickelt, die eine sichere Umgebung bieten.
Hier können neue Updates, Konfigurationen und Änderungen ausprobiert werden, bevor es an die produktive Instanz von Opencast geht.

Opencast ist eine Open-Source-Videoplattform, die speziell für den Einsatz an Hochschulen entwickelt wurde. 🏫
Besonders wertvoll wird Opencast jedoch durch die enge Verzahnung mit den bereits etablierten Lernplattformen (Learning Management Systeme, kurz LMS) wie Moodle, ILIAS oder Stud.IP. Diese Anbindungen bringen Opencast auf direktem Weg in den Alltag von Lehrenden und Studierenden.

im looking at @owncast for some future projects. this is both for myself & for where I work. with in music
but there is a question that im needing answering.
I want to only do music, not video. but from what I've seen of owncast it seems its video focused, but im more wanting a radio station rather than a video platform.
purely for reasons to make it easier for people to listen without the stress of bandwidth so muchthoughts? or even other stuff that helps
