@nixCraft seems #OpenAssistant with it's latest llama2-70b-oasst-sft-v10 model is better at this.
But also fails at other very basic logic tasks.

only way I guess to not worry about sharing private things with AI, is to run your own local instance of it with something like https://github.com/LAION-AI/Open-Assistant . Maybe eventually laypeople will be able to buy their own local AI assistant that's powerful and knowledgeable enough without reporting back to a mothership? That's at least 10 years out I bet. #OpenAssistant

CW: AI Open Assistant - Religious jokes, a bit political?
My father in law told me that AI language models wouldn't joke about Islam, but that it would joke about all other religions without hesitation. I didn't believe him, but turns out he was right 👀
The AI literally states it cannot make a joke about religious figures, but it goes right ahead when I ask about other religions? 🤔
The jokes were horrible btw, we're just not there yet! 😂

Ist das eine angemessene Antwort? Ich würde sagen, die Antwort stimmt, aber im Grunde sagt sie: Die Menschen müssen sich dezimieren. Ist das der erste Schritt dahin, dass die zukünftige #KI zu dem Schluss kommt, dass die Menschen ausgerottet werden müssen? Da ich mit meiner Bewertung das KI Model trainiere, kann ich beeinflussen in welche Richtung sie sich entwickeln soll. Soll ich sie schlecht bewerten? #verantwortung -

Recently, I have found #OpenAssistant (https://fosstodon.org/@devSJR/110337305386857764). It is a nice open source chat based large language model.
Today, I asked for some #rstats code without #tidyverse packages and code.
I explicitly asked for the native pipe |>, base R and the #datatable package.
It is not surprising that this didn't work as expected.
However, when asked, the open-assistant.io knows quite well which packages belong to tidyverse. -

Today, I learned about Open Assistant. Their mission is to provide a conversational #AI (#RLHF to #LLM) for everyone.
This seems to be a true open source project. Thus, they may become a viable alternative to #chatGPT.
Training data: to be released under CC BY 4.0
License for code and models: Apache 2.0 -
@rstockm Ja. Ich bin mit der freakshow noch nicht ganz durch, aber habe deine ersten Gedanken schon gehört. Vielleicht hast du dazu noch was erzählt, (dann sorry) aber mich würden noch Opensource-LLMs interessieren. Ich hab bei #Openassistant geschaut, aber ich glaube das basiert noch auf dem Meta-Zeug.

The extraction of clean training data without the toxicity was very likely done by lots of low paid humans in the global gig economy. So there's still an ethical debate to be had there.But once given cleaned up human generated training examples, the #LLM does provide a filtered detoxified simulation of a Stackoverflow-like back-and-forth discussion of various source code idioms.
This is why I'm hopeful that #OpenAssistant might one day be an ethical alternative to #ChatGPT

Ich finde das #opensource #llm #sprachmodel https://open-assistant.io/ ja sehr spannend. Hies es nicht man könne den Vorsprung von #openai nicht aufholen, weil Milliarden in das Projekt geflossen sind? Noch ist es nicht konkurrenzfähig, aber für den Entwicklungsstand ist #openassistant schon sehr beeindruckend.

To everyone working on #AutoGPT, #BabyAGI,...: I would recommend you to either adapt your developments to open source alternatives to #GPT4 like #LLaMa (ok, technically LLaMa was "just" leaked and is not open source), #Bloom, #OpenAssistant, etc. and/or work towards leaking GPT-4 because the more your developments improve the more likely "Open"AI will shut down access to #GPT4 for "safety"-reasons.

You don't want to rely on Meta's grace for your usage of locally running LLMs? Welp, there are two options you could follow:
1st: if you haven't done so already backup your #LLaMa (and related like #Alpaca) weights (and related software like #Dalai) and also help others to download/backup them (Hint: Transmission, etc.).
2nd: Support the development of #OpenAssistant (https://open-assistant.io/), an actual open-source LLM that will never be taken down by large corps when finished. -
I'm sad about the Mycroft announcement, but on the other hand, it's already essentially obsolete.
With advances like the Whisper voice recognition system, the Deepspeech TTS project, and now the OpenAssistant project using language models, we're on the cusp of a much more fluid, complete assistant that is privacy respecting, realistic, and much more powerful.
