Le compte Mastodon animé par la mission Services aux chercheurs de la DiBSO, créé en février 2025, fête son 100e abonné (et même 101e dans la foulée) après huit mois d’existence. La produzione di conoscenza non avviene nel vuoto. Ogni grande scoperta scientifica si basa su lavori precedenti e su uno scambio continuo con i colleghi del settore. Ecco perché dobbiamo affrontare la minaccia che i principali editori e piattaforme possano influenzare in modo improprio le modalità di accesso alla conoscenza scientifica, o addirittura sopprimerla.

Quando l'infrastruttura è troppo centralizzata, i gatekeeper acquisiscono nuovi poteri per catturare, manipolare e censurare. Il risultato è un sistema che diventa meno utile, meno stabile e con maggiori costi di accesso. La scienza prospera grazie alla condivisione e all'equità di accesso, e il suo futuro dipende da una rivolta globale e democratica contro le piattaforme centralizzate predatorie.

Viele #Hochschulen und #Forschungsinstitute berichten (für die Öffentlichkeit!) auf Kanälen, die nur zu nutzen sind, wenn man umfangreichen #AGBs und #Nutzungsbedingungen zustimmt.
Hier auf #Mastodon, #PeerTube und #Pixelfed ist das ganz anders, vorbildlich im Sinne von OpenAccess:
denn jede Meldung hier ist über das Internet frei abrufbar – ohne langatmige AGBs, die nur kaschieren, dass die Anbieter der Dienste alle Daten vom Nutzer abgreifen, derer sie habhaft werden.

🔓 Deuxième formation doctorale aujourd'hui dans le cadre de l' #openaccessweek avec un atelier pour accompagner les doctorant.e.s à la publication dans HAL. En tout cette semaine, plus de cinquante étudiant.e.s auront été familiarisés avec l'écosystème de la #scienceouverte les modèles de publications en #openaccess, les revues prédatrices, les accords transformants et la prise en charge des APC, à la création d'IdHAL et à la création de CV #HAL

📗 Open Access takes many forms, from Green Open Access (self-archiving preprints or postprints) to Gold models where publications are made openly available immediately by the publishers, against an article processing charge paid by the authors.
🔍 Green Open Access refers to freely depositing your article in an institutional or discipline-specific repository that is freely-accessible by readers. 💎 Diamond Open Access is a publishing model that is free for both readers and authors, supported by community-driven and non-commercial initiatives.

One of the things I love about working on Knowledge Commons is seeing some of the deposits we get to KCWorks, our open access repository.

This essay, "Is a Hot Dog a Sandwich?," is one of my favorites of the week. The description is "An essay discussing the nature of definitions, using hotdogs as an illustrative example" and I'll be honest, it was both entertaining and educational.

Heute Abend ziehen die Initiator*innen des aufhofs eine "Zwischenbilanz" - natürlich im #aufhof. Ich gehe davon aus, dass morgen auch in einigen Lokalmedien darüber zu lesen sein wird. Dennoch bin ich heute Abend selbst hin, denn immerhin sind wir mit #OpenAccessWeek, Open Science Community Meetup, #FediParty sowie zuletzt dem Barcamp #Wikiremembrance als TIB Open Science Lab kontinuierlich Akteure der Zwischennutzung.

Unten zitiere ich einfach mal die Ankündigung der heutigen Veranstaltung in voller Länge. Einladender ist das Bürgerbüro Stadtentwicklung.

Tauche ein in die faszinierende Welt der Zwischennutzung des Kaufhofs! Oder besser: Was können wir aus der Zwischennutzung eines ehemaligen Kaufhauses in unserer Innenstadt lernen?
Am 15. November 2023 laden wir dich herzlich zur "aufhof Zwischenbilanz" ein. Erfahre, was sich in der Zwischennutzung ereignet hat, was gut funktioniert und wie die Bevölkerung die Fläche annimmt. Wer sind die Nutzerinnen und Nutzer, und wer sind die Besucherinnen und Besucher? Was waren und sind die Erfolgsgeschichten und wo sind die Erwartungen nicht erfüllt worden?

Lee Haring's words remind us that openness transcends borders, preserving #oraltraditions and fostering global connections.

'Open access is the only ethical, rational way to publish the oral literatures of people who don't have much use for writing. People in the countries I write about are plentifully equipped with mobile phones. With them they see that the outside world is paying attention to their most treasured traditions. Reading a familiar folktale in translation may even encourage them to learn English. The rest of the world discovers the narrative skills and sociopolitical comments of local narrators they can meet only online.'
