I've never seen a project apparently used so much, yet be so poorly documented and with so few tutorials.

I've been messing with gsoap for going on 3 days. I still cannot get everything compiling and linking. And the only tutorials I can find are extremely trivial.

Where are the instructions or tutorial showing a _real_ setup, including the steps required to get SSL+wsse working? #gsoap #linux #onvif

Looking into Onvif and gSoap for the first time. Onvif is a standard protocol to access security cameras.

I downloaded the xsd files for 4 modules out of a possible 27. The C++ source code gSoap generates for these 4 is 546380 lines long!

Trying to get everything building and linking is tough. Doesn't help that this is needed for some older Debian 11 devices. #soap #cpp #onvif

@ssamulczyk I'm very interested about this #ONVIF support in UniFi devices - I need to replace two G3s and maybe there's a cheaper/better alternative which is going to work with UniFi ecosystem! Keep us posted!:)

Through the entire day I've done NOTHING useful... Didn't even go out!😅

Spent some time trying to trick #UniFi to work with my cheap #YI camera, because as of now #Ubiquity #Protect supports #ONVIF in Early Access. I've upgraded camera's firmware to a one that has ONVIF but I guess it is in changelog only...😅

When that failed, I proceeded to browse through various security-like cameras of #Tapo and #Reolink. I don't really need it but at least it might be slightly cheaper...😂

Apparently, #UniFi #Protect will get #ONVIF support in #EarlyAccess next month. That would mean it should be possible to connect ANY ONVIF camera to their NVR…

The downside is you won’t get any AI detections and notifications for them…🤷🏻‍♂️🫣

Been playing with my ONVIF Tapo camera. Got #MQTT PTZ working.

It's OK, but it doesn't have an optical zoom.

Anybody got a suggestion for a cheap (OK, sensible priced) PTZ camera with optical zoom?
