Final thoughts:
- OLP, NDP and Greens cannot fight each other as that only helps Ford.
- Voters should insist that their local candidates support electoral reform and proportional representation, in order to gain their vote.
- OLP, NDP and Greens need to work together to increase voter participation. Only 43.5% of eligible Ontario voters cast a ballot in 2022, and Ford got less than half of those votes. Increasing turnout is critical.

Let's circle back to where this rant started - Proportional Representation (PR). Under our current election process Ford is likely to be reelected because liberal votes will be split between OLP, NDP and Greens. Looking at the previous election here is how many seats would have been won with a PR election process (current seats shown in brackets):

CONs: 53 (83)
LIBs: 31 (8)
NDP: 31 (31)
Green: 8 (1)
IND: 1 (0)

We would have had a minority government.

For now I'm more impressed with Marit Stiles and the way she has taken the Ford government to task for his almost daily decisions that are destroying Ontario. I hope "centrist and fiscally responsible" Crombie can be as effective and creates a true alternative to the Ford government, without battling or demeaning the NDP or Greens. All opposition parties need to work together to defeat Ford.

I am a long time Liberal supporter and voter but Crombie will have to work hard to win my vote. Upon announcing her intention to run she made comments that made it sound like previous Liberal governments spent too much on social programs and she has flip flopped on removing Greenbelt lands. And I'm worried about her aggressively chasing donations from corporations and what impact that will have on policy.

Fast forward to this Monday when I listened to CBC Radio discuss newly elected Crombie. Another "strategist" was on hand telling the audience what a great victory this was for the Ontario Liberals and that the party was energized and excited at a level not seen in years. My reaction to Crombie's win was closer to the article linked below. Written by a former PC candidate but closer to reality versus the "strategist"view.

I attended the Liberal Leadership Convention in 2020 when Steven Del Duca was chosen. Kate Graham was the better choice, again IMO, and her speech was far more exciting in terms of what she wanted to accomplish. But "strategists" decided that a recognizable name was more important and the rest is history.

My initial reaction after Crombie's victory was disappointment. I thought Nate Erskine-Smith was a much better candidate and would have been focused more on leading based on policy (IMO important) versus fighting Ford (unfortunately necessary). But the Liberal "strategists" insisted that name recognition was critical to successfully defeating Ford. The same mistake, IMO, they made in 2020.

I think if we want more honesty & integrity in Ontario politics, it won't be from either Ford's corrupt government or the morally bankrupt #ontarioliberals. And do I really have to mention #BobRae?

Instead, I think we need more #OntarioGreens elected to Queen's Park like #AislynnClancy in #KitCen.

1/ I don't know if I'm just missing it, but I haven't seen much conversation around the Ontario Liberal leadership race, especially considering that Monday is the deadline for them to recruit new non-student members. I'm not a member myself, but I'd love to see Nate Erskine-Smith win. I've been to a few things where he spoke and he's always struck me as someone who's in politics because he genuinely cares, not for personal gain.
