#OnPoli #OntarioElection2025 More reasons to be critical of first-past -the-post electoral system. (1) A grand total of 19.5% of all eligible voters gave #DougFord, as they say, 100% of the power. (2) 18.55% of the vote gets the NDP almost 22% of the seats and Official Opposition status, while almost 30% of the vote gets the Liberals only 11.29%.
To be fair, this will not change until someone can convince a large number of voters that this is a problem.

#OnPoli #OntarioElection2025 At 45.40% in 2025, voter turnout is a meagre improvement over the miserable 43.5% of 2022, but should be of concern. #DougFord's cynical call of an election in winter and the huge distractions of #Trump and #Tarrifs certainly contributed to public indifference. At the same time, let's face it, the opposition parties failed to present a compelling alternative. Still, if the issue was to "Protect Ontario", I guess a handsome majority of voters just didn't care.

I think the biggest disappointment of the election is that Sara Jama lost her seat in Hamilton Centre. The NDP did her dirty.

Disappointing results in Ontario, but expected. The suburbs and exurbs love Doug Ford.
Liberals got 30% of the vote and 10% of the seats, and Bonnie Crombie lost in Mississauga East—Cooksville. Liberal voters, it's time to get on board with electoral reform before we end up a permanent 2-party province.

If you don't know the best way to vote in order to keep cons out in tomorrow's Ontario election:
1. Look at your riding's history
2. If it usually goes lib or ndp, vote that way
3. If it's con, but it has historically leaned lib or ndp, vote what's most recent
4. If it's a toss up... good luckDON'T TRUST SITES THAT CLAIM RIDING PREDICTIONS.
There is no per-riding polling in Ontario. All of these sites apply province-wide polling to a differential from the last election.

It was exhausting, but I spent over two hours trudging through slippery snow to go vote. It sure would be nice if sidewalks and intersections were passable. Good thing my hip is ok these days or I would've hurt myself for sure. A few years ago, I wouldn't have been able to make it even a block. Ford announced another big #GOTrain project this past week that would allow commuters to cross Toronto uninterrupted by freight traffic. He had no details on cost or when it would be built, and couldn't confirm they've talked with the railway that owns the track. This from a government that is crazy over budget & years behind on the Eglinton Crosstown LRT, and can't even provide an estimate for its completion.

Ford is remarkably consistent - he's failed at every opportunity to solve the #AffordableHousing crisis. Part of the federal housing funds depended on building additional public housing units. Ford was complaining that the feds didn't pay up despite the fact that Ontario missed the targets significantly. Once again, federal funds went directly to municipalities that followed the playbook, upsetting Ford.

When asked the definition of "affordable," the government convened an internal committee to figure out what they meant.
