My observations on the Ontario Election:
Once again, first-past-the-post delivers a government that is not representative of the overall will of the people. Specifically, 57% of voters are progressive, but 100% of power goes to the minority who is not.
A few weeks ago I started reading what Conservative voters were saying on social media to try to understand why they liked Ford. The only articulated reasons I heard were of the form “We can’t afford for the Liberals to get back in because last time they did [X]”. In all cases, the accusations of [X] were correct, but also the Ford government had done the same thing to a much larger extent.
A large number of comments were just saying how great Doug is, but when someone asked why they were non-responsive — probably bots.
Now I guess we get four more years of a government dedicated to taking all of our collectively-owned wealth and converting it to private wealth for their friends.
My cold comfort: almost always, Ontarians vote a different party Federally than they have in power Provincially. (I honestly think that’s why Ford called the election when he did). So perhaps Ford’s victory yesterday will help protect us from a PP majority in the upcoming Federal election.

NDP Leader Marit Stiles is addressing supporters at party headquarters in Toronto.
Her party retained official opposition status in the legislature, despite finishing a distant third in the popular vote. That's because they managed to concentrate their vote in a small number of areas, and better hold onto their seats as a result.

There’re too many parties splitting the vote in Ontario provincial elections, at least unless/until proportional representation becomes reality. Seems it, as expected, made it easy for a scandal-ridden & relatively unpopular Premier to win a historic 3rd majority government. #ONpoli #OntarioElection

Really, you just expect miserable, worst outcomes in elections in this era, don't you? Huge tracts of people voting to entrench the worst timeline against their own community's best interests, but you still keep hoping for a positive surprise some day.
Oh well, not today. Keep your head down and chisel away at the supports under the oligarchy.

Fun fact: Vincent Ke had misrepresented/lied about being an engineer when he got elected.
I filed a complaint to the Professional Engineers Ontario association. I ended up quoted in the newspaper for doing so.
