It has been traced back to around the 2020s (I can't remember the exact date) when, at that time, Vivaldi Browser offered me the opportunity to create a new browser sync personal account, and I also started using their Mastodon instance called "Vivaldi Social."
In Malaysia, there were many news mentions of the Fediverse and Mastodon because, at that time, Elon Musk was buying a platform called Twitter before he rebranded it as X, which caused people online to be upset that their favorite platform could be easily bought by a so-called billionaire.
