I love Heart Shaped World by Chris Isaak, it's a solid record, but I bet a LOT of the people who bought it for the world's sexiest song + video combo of Wicked Game ended being really disappointed at how much the rest of the record is just throwback rockabilly. Good rockabilly, tho.

For the first time I checked out Dexys Midnight Runners songs that aren't their lone American hit, and this is actually pretty great. Somewhat punk and new wave inspired blue eyed soul. I was expecting it to be more celtic-y, but the Northern soul of it wasn't an unpleasant surprise.

🥳🎉 Ollama: the glorified llama herder that stumbled upon fame by being the first to drag llama.cpp out of the Stone Age and into the hands of the tech-illiterate masses. 🚀✨ It’s the Silicon Valley equivalent of a one-hit-wonder band, now clumsily pivoting to the cloud while praying its users don't realize they've been riding a borrowed horse all along. 🐴💸

I bought a finely-crafted hardwood object going by that name on BC's Salt Spring Island ages ago.
A little canister for weed drilled into it, and another for a stainless steel tube machined and painted like a cigarette—into which one hit could be loaded, fired, and drawn without attracting undue attention.
Pre-legalization days up here in Canada.
Such gadgets were popular on the coastal ferries.

I've been humming this one hit by The Wonders' on and off for nearly 29 years...and they weren't even a real band!

#OneHitWonder #TuneTuesday -
Bands getting called a #OneHitWonder always makes me sad. I think because growing up it felt like it was always used in a negative way instead of like, just a fact of the music charts.
ANYWAYS. For #TuneTuesday my pick is "Video Killed the Radio Star" by The Buggles. "The Age of Plastic" is one of my (many) favorite albums! If you've never listened to it outside of their one hit, I highly recommend it!

"I still haven't found what I'm looking for" - The Chimes
Pauline Henry and the lads prove two things: that U2 are capable of writing great songs, and that Bono's vocal performances are not the greatest.
The band split after their one album, Mike and James moved into production, Pauline earned a law degree.

"Black velvet" - Alannah Myles
Alannah is in the spotlight, sitting on a flight case they've put on stage, one leather-clad leg lifted to show big energy. She wears a leather jacket, and a blouse-ish top beneath. Wild and frizzy black hair, an attitude. She's too cool to look directly at the camera, just gives a side-eye and keeps looking where she damn well wants to look.

"Don't wanna fall in love" - Jane Child
Jane looks like a dangerous rock chick, that nose chain is a striking visual image.
The song is equally striking - but it's disco funk in the hip-house style.
Not what we expected from the picture, still very much worth a listen.

#TuneTuesday wants a #OneHitWonder. There are a lot to choose from, so here's four from this quarter of 1990.
"Snappiness" - BBG
A really lovely chill-house track, built around a simple four-bar piano figure. The beat glides in, synthy strings add depth, Dina Taylor gently croons.
Not so much a song, more of a feeling - it's woozy, in a minor key, vocals drift in and out of hearing, more blissful than dangerous.

"My Sharona" by The Knack was considered a #OneHitWonder but me and my friends blasted it on our 8 tracks for all the world to hear.

#OneHitWonder is the theme for today's #TuneTuesday
Why were one hit wonders so much more prevalent in the 80s and 90s, or have I just been hiding my head under a rock?
I’m posting this out of nostalgia, not because it was a great song. Looking back, wondering how this song got so popular. Zero points for song name originality.

Tune Tuesday's theme is One Hit Wonders. Which, I mean, I don't love the term, but whatever.

"Words" von F.R. David - für mich die Mutter aller musikalischen Eintagsfliegen.

Way too many choices.
"Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)" is a 1972 song by American pop rock band Looking Glass. It's the bit of bluesy voice and story that gets me singing along every time I hear this song.
And an iconic one hit wonder in the US, Rappers Delight by Sugar Hill Gang.

#OneHitWonder is an incredibly difficult #TuneTuesday category, because most of the one hit wonders I like had a successful single chart hit in the context of a much longer career.
This is pretty close, though, as gothic pop-rock outfit Shakespears Sister was riven by interpersonal conflict between Siobhan Fahey and Marcella Detroit, as well as Fahey's struggles with both depression and industry ageism. All of this meant that the group disbanded just as they achieved recognition.

@Esoteria is the mind behind the #TuneTuesday theme of #OneHitWonder
For my choice the definition of "hit" is possibly being stretched a bit* . This lot were good mates with the lads from Type O Negative and there's certainly a hint of their influence and sound in my choice , probably due to the fact one of the Type O guys produced it and bassist Val Ium had contributed backing vocals on some Type O songs , anyway enough waffling here's Pist-on: Grey Flap https://song.link/us/i/296549139
*A lot , but I do vaguely remember seeing the video for this on music channels -
Oh I have a perfect song for this #TuneTuesday's theme #OneHitWonder from @Esoteria: in 1979, French singer Patrick Hernandez released his single hit song; he was basically completely unknown before, and has fallen back into oblivion since then, mostly living on the royalties of this one and only song, because it became absolutely huge worldwide. And this song is... "Born To Be Alive":
