  1. Kudos to #AzureSpring for managing to be the shortest #kDrama I've ever dropped.

Halfway through episode 4/6 its relentless NOISE got too much. For me, the one dominant adjective of any "healing" Drama would be "quiet". A shrill shouty 2FL to whom the FL replies in like tone? Make.It.Stop

#kDrama CAN do healing Dramas, #OneDayOff remains my benchmark, but this one felt like a compressed romcom given a healing tag because of being set on a remote island. Tsundere/omniscient ML schooling homecoming FL, with endlessly shrill 2FL was anything but healing for me

  2. When I saw that #kDrama #AzureSpring was a six episode healing drama of ~40 minutes per episode, I was excited for what I hoped would be like a maritime version of #OneDayOff
Into episode 3 and already it's achieved the remarkable feat of leaving me feeling bored. Instead of a quiet healing drama, it's been really noisy and packed with standard #kDrama tropes from dramas much, much longer. The bossy/tsundere male lead who has to teach the homecoming female lead because she knows nothing about anything, really. The wannabe love triangle with the female lead's elementary school classmate. This is not what I would call a healing drama.

    Day 19: Comfort/therapy - a field dominated for me by #jDrama -
    #ShinyaShokudo S1-3 (especially s2)
    #NekoZamurai S1-2 (SO cute!)
    #Alice-sanChiNoIroribata #HannariGiroriNoYorikoSan (a love song to Kyotro)

BUT the clear winner is a #kDrama #OneDayOff
It seems to fit the very definition of what (afaict) Koreans call "healing" - NOTHING happens and it's MAGIC 😍
(Also, imo the English title is better than the original, cf. #Doubt )

  4. @mel @AnnaAnthro but, on a less Bezos-besmirched note - did you enjoy #OneDayOff?

  5. @gamzabi
I can’t believe how many Koreans I’ve talked to who have never visited many places in the country, considering how easy and affordable it is to travel there! Watch #OneDayOff for inspiration.

  6. @tinker The #kDrama #OneDayOff would suit you VERY well, I think. Eight short episodes, VERY restful. a no-drama Drama

  7. Drama Recs Challenge Day 14

One Drama leapt straight to mind, and only one. #KDrama #OneDayOff was SUPERB for being a 'healing/therapy' kind of watch. The perfect palate cleanser, a VERY rare gem. If there was at least one Drama a year like this one, I'd be ecstatic. Or, to be more tonally appropriate, I'd be calmly and contemplatively mellow. 😀 #DramaRecsChallenge

#OneDayOff is a great series for a slump. Not really a drama, more like a vlog of solo travel. It inspired me a lot for planning my solo tour of @korea this spring! When I end a great series, I find that jumping into a completely different genre keeps me going.
I binged #TheTraumCodeHeroesOnCall the last couple of days. A fast-paced medical drama that was very well-done.

SUCH a delightful series. It's hard to call it a drama with only one recurring character and it's almost like mime because she's solo in so many scenes. It really portrays the delights of solo travel and has inspired me a lot as I look at my itinerary for a trip around the country this spring. I'll especially take in a couple of Temple Stays, as well as a bakery tour of Jeju-Do! No longer requires Viki Plus!

It's a very quick watch but #OneDayOff was a great show. Not too much drama, lots of lovely scenery and magical moments.
#QueenOfTears is really hitting my emotions but it's SO addictive for me. I'll be sad when it's done.

  11. @hanktank61 @ronsboy67 @AnnaAnthro @whoosh
#OneDayOff is a quick and delightful watch! I hope to replicate a lot of her experiences when I visit #korea. Thanks to the show, I learned that #TempleStay is a thing in Korea and there are multiple locations around the country where you can stay in a Buddhist temple, wearing the clothes, joining the prayers as desired, and eating the food.

#OneDayOff is very art-film! Such a different vibe and super enjoyable!
Wedding Impossible might have some space on my dance card!

#MyDearest is now part of Viki regular. #OneDayOff is well-worth the short watch, 8 24-minute episodes of a single teacher taking daytrips from #Seoul.
#LiveYourOwnLife has been a popular LONG show, 49 episodes! Only on Plus

  14. @Nouscat Sounds lovely1 A show that I enjoyed on Viki Plus was #OneDayOff, with a single teacher taking daytrips from Seoul every weekend. It was cool and the shows and the series were short.

  15. @hfrancissl Oh, 100%! Some Iconic scenes have happened in the Lotte World Aquarium and lots of locations are along the coastlines. Jeju is so unique and there was a "bread tour" in #OneDayOff. #NamsanTower is visible throughout the city but I really want to go up there because so many couple scenes happen there. Lots of viewpoints near bridges along the Han River are shown. I definitely want to drink soju in one of the tents along there! #korea #kdrama

  16. @RomanticIsa Oh, interesting. I didn't actually try it but I could have sworn that there was an option to download when I upgraded. I immediately downgraded and got an annual pass at the end of the year because I didn't see many other shows that interested me except for #OneDayOff. Delightful but very short: 8 24-minute episodes. #Kdrama

Day 22: shortest drama you completed in 2023
#OneDayOff This had the feel of a 1-person experimental show at a theatre festival, in all of the right ways. 8 24-minute episodes of a single teacher touring the country on day-trips. Really lovely!
